VFW Memorial Day Ceremony

VFW Post 1935 will present a Memorial Day Ceremony on Sat. May 23, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Lt. Charles Garrison Veterans Memorial at Adrian, Mo. Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran Father John Bolderson will be the Guest Speaker. 

The public is invited and encouraged to attend this Remembrance of our Fallen who made the ultimate sacrifice. We thank you in advance for your support. 

The rain date is Monday May 25, 2015 at 10:00 AM.

Weather Update: Light to moderate rain moving into the area

Light to moderate rain, along with perhaps a rumble or two of thunder, will continue to expand in coverage and overspread the area late this evening. 

Occasional rain showers will then persist into the morning hours on Wednesday.

Phillip Parks
Funeral services for Phillip Parks are scheduled for 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2015, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1800 Highway 150, Lee’s Summit. Burial services immediately following at Longview Funeral Home and Cemetery, 12700 South Raytown Rd., Kansas City, Mo.

Phillip is survived by his spouse, Jennifer Smith Parks, and two children in addition to his family in Clinton and elsewhere.

He was a Veteran of The United States Navy.

Phillip was a fine young man with a superb sense of kindness, old-fashioned manners and a great family.

A full obituary was not yet available for publication. Phillip was born Jan. 18, 1975 and died on May 18, 2015. He was a graduate of Clinton High School where he was a student athlete including the CHS Cross Country Team.

Heather Ann Smith, 30, Independence, Missouri, died Saturday, May 16, 2015. Memorial services will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the EITAS Learning Disabilities Offices, 8508 Hillcrest, Kansas City, Missouri.

Heather was born June 10, 1984 in Kansas City, Missouri. She leaves her parents, Laura Taylor and Billy Smith; her grandmother, Patricia Taylor-Stephens; two brothers, Patrick Smith Hernandez (Jeremy) and Skylar Smith; two sisters, Terra Thompson-Miller (Terry) and Miranda Smith; three nephews, Terence, Brent, and Jimmy, and three nieces, Bonnie, Georgia-Raye, and Jamie.

Texas man seriously injured in St. Clair County Crash

A Quinlan, Texas man was seriously injured today in a 1 vehicle accident on Missouri 13 Highway around 2 miles South of Osceola.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred around 11:05 a.m. in the Northbound lane of Mo 13 Highway when the driver of the 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 

54 year old Mark C. Gaspard fell asleep at the wheel and traveled off the right side of the roadway and down a embankment.

Mr. Gaspard received serious injuries in this accident and was transported by ambulance to Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri. 

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Mikes Wrecker Service of Collins, Missouri. The driver wasn't wearing a seat belt.
