The Cass County Sheriffs Office has CANCELLED an Endangered SILVER Advisory
for missing adults that occurred at 207 West First St, Garden City, MO at
09:00 AM on 05/29/2015.

The CANCELLED endangered SILVER advisory missing adults are:

Donald I. Rapp, a white male, age 89, hgt 5'10", 180 lbs, gray hair, blue eyes/

Dorothy M. Rapp, a white female, age 84, hgt 5’06”, 140 lbs, auburn hair,
hazel eyes

Cass County - (Garden City, MO) A Silver Alert has been issued for a Cass County couple after they did not arrive at a funeral in Drexel, MO. this morning.

Relatives last spoke with 89 year old Donald Rapp and his wife, 84 year old Dorothy Rapp early Friday morning to provide them directions from their home in Garden City to Drexel, Mo.

 Mr. Rapp may suffer from the early stages of dementia.  They were last contacted at their residence in the 200 block of 1st Street in Garden City, Missouri around 9:00 am.

 Donald Rapp is 5’10” 180 lbs., gray hair, blue eyes

 Dorothy Rapp 5’6” 140 lbs., auburn hair, hazel eyes

 They are possibly driving a white 2014 Chevrolet Equinox, Missouri License CE1D5R.

Obituary - Galen Leo Cherry

Galen Cherry passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at his home that he shared with Dora Cherry in Fort Scott, Kan., after a brief struggle with cancer.

Galen was an avid lover of animals and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Robert G Cherry Sr. and Mildred d’Arlene Cherry.

He is survived by his children John Cherry and his wife Marian, Sabrina Goldman and husband Marty, Mitchell Blazek and Cody Cherry, his brother Robert G Cherry Jr. and wife Linda, sister Robyne L. Shumate and husband Keith and Lois C. Sutton and husband Brian Sutton. 

He also is survived by his seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bates County Sheriff's Office: R.A.D. class

The Bates County Sheriff's Office will be hosting another R.A.D. class on June 6th & 7th. This is a self-defense class for women. The class is offered free to women of Bates County. You must attend both days of the class. It starts at 9 a.m. on each day and ends around 1 p.m. If you would like more information on the class or would like to sign up, please contact Jami Page at 660-679-3232. Class size is limited.

Bates County Sheriffs Office: D.A.R.E Family Fun Day

Bates County Sheriff Chad Anderson would like to invite Bates County children and their families to attend the D.A.R.E. Family Fun Day at the Bates County Sheriff's Office on June 13th. Sheriff Anderson and his Administrative Staff organized this event so kids can interact with Sheriff's Deputies. With everything that has been going on lately in the media, Sheriff Anderson does not want our youth to be scared of Law Enforcement. If kids are scared, hurt or needs help in any way he wants them to know they can run to Law Enforcement, not run away from them. Sheriff Anderson wants kids to know that Law Enforcement Officers are their friends and are here to help them if the need arises.

The event will be held June 13th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the west parking lot at the Bates County Sheriff's Office. There will be bounce houses kids can play in. They will have a chance to Dunk-A-Deputy in the dunk tank or win a prize at one of the carnival games. Deputies will be cooking hot dogs, popcorn and snow-cones to give away. Kids will be able to look at police vehicles and see our K-9's at work. Bring your camera so you can take your child's picture with DAREN the Lion. The first 100 kids will get a free D.A.R.E. t-shirt.

Missouri State Highway Patrol: Man had 800 pounds of pot in truck

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -Prosecutors say a man was charged with drug trafficking after he allegedly drove 800 pounds of marijuana through Springfield on his way from California to New York. Prosecutor Kevin Young says 56-year-old Ashot Grigoryan was charged Wednesday.

A probable cause statement says a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper who stopped Grigoryan's 32-foot refrigerated truck earlier this year on Interstate 44 found 36 cardboard boxes and five nylon bags full of bundles of marijuana. His paperwork said Grigoryan was transporting stir fry sauce.

The Springfield News-Leader reports (http://sgfnow.co/1QcA8rS ) charges were delayed because authorities thought the case would be tried in federal court but federal prosecutors deferred to state officials.

Grigoryan's bond was set at $10,000 with an agreement to reduce it to $2,500 if he appears in court.
