Possible gas leak at Butler McDonalds

The Butler Fire Department along with Liberty Utilities is in route to a possible gas leak at McDonald's Restaurant located at 1007 W. Ft. Scott Street.

Free Sports Physicals in Appleton City

The Appleton City Rural Health Clinic will be providing free high school sports physicals during the month of June.

Clinic hours are 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. Physical forms will be available at the clinic. Call 660-476-2121 for an appointment or for more information.

Linda L. Eaton

Linda L. Eaton age 62 of Rich Hill, Missouri passed away Saturday May 30th.


Mrs. Eaton's wishes were to be cremated and no services are planned at this time.

Family information will be announced by the Heuser Funeral Home of Rich Hill at a later date.

2 vehicle accident 7 miles West of Appleton City

The Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County is responding to a 2 vehicle accident on East 52 Highway at County Road 10695 which is 7 miles West of Appleton City Missouri.

The accident is said to be minor in nature and is between a white van and a red Dodge truck.


No injuries are reported as of yet in this crash and Mid America Live will update this when and if more information from the Missouri State Highway Patrol becomes available.

Osceola man arrested on Linn County Kansas Warrant

On May 28, James Gueltzau, 60, Osceola, was arrested in St. Clair County on a Linn County, Kansas, warrant on an original felony charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.

On May 29, a St. Clair County arrest warrant was issued for Joseph Daughtery, 33, Clinton, charging him with three felony charges stemming from an incident on May 26. Daughtery is charged with a class A felony of kidnapping, a class B felony charge of burglary-first degree, and a class D felony of resisting arrest by fleeing.

In the early morning hours of May 26, St. Clair County deputies were dispatched to a residence on E Highway in reference to a domestic assault in progress. As deputies were responding to the scene, information was received the suspect had left driving a white Cadillac. An attempt was made to stop the vehicle, but it was able to elude the deputies.



At the scene it was reported Daugherty, was an ex-live-in-boyfriend of a female living at the residence. He allegedly entered the residence carrying a hand gun, threatened to shoot the family members, and attempted to abduct a female.

Additional charges are pending on Daugherty following incidents on May 29 when a St. Clair County deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle driving down E Highway. The driver attempted to elude deputies and ended up crashing the vehicle on SW 101 Road and fled into the woods. Evidence was located inside the vehicle that identified Daugherty as the driver.

Information was received Daugherty was seen riding an ATV in the area. Later the same day, an ATV was recovered near the junction of B and E highway. The investigation discovered the ATV was stolen from Lana Sheldon’s garage on SW 101 Road, Osceola.

Bates County Sheriffs Office: Adrian man arrested

On May 30, 2015 Bates County Sheriff's Office Deputies responded to a residence on County Road 15004 in Adrian, MO in reference to a disturbance that had just occurred. The reporting party advised Deputies that the suspect, Mike Barnhart of Adrian, MO, had forced his way into the residence. Her Father, the victim, went to see what was going on. Her father yelled for her to dial 911.

The victim found Mr. Barnhart to be on the enclosed porch. Mr. Barnhart attempted to get past the victim and enter the kitchen area. The victim blocked his entrance and told Mr. Barnhart to get off of his property. Mr. Barnhart pushed the victim and then struck him in the head and ear with his fist. Mr. Barnhart then attempted to strike the victim again and hit him on the right side of his head.

Mr. Barnhart then proceeded to yell threats to the victim and left the residence in an unknown vehicle. Deputies conducted an area canvass on all nearby roads leading into Adrian. Deputies also checked several known locations where the suspect could possibly be. Deputies had negative contact.

The following day, Adrian Police Department was involved in a foot pursuit with the suspect, Mike Barnhart in a field north of Main Street in Adrian, MO. Adrian Police were able to detain the suspect until a Deputy arrived on the scene. Deputies arrived on the scene and took Mike Barnhart into custody. He was transferred to the Bates County Jail.

Mike Barnhart (DOB 12/25/1973) was charged with Burglary in the 1st Degree and Assault in the 3rd Degree. His bond was set at $12500.00 cash or surety.
