Funeral Services for Carl E. Jennings, 90 will be at 2pm on Thursday, June 4th at the Heuser Funeral Home in Rich Hill. The family will receive friends from 1pm until service time.
Burial and military rites will be held in the Greenlawn Cemetery. He is survived by wife Mary Jennings, children Beth and Dennis Diehl; Mike and Kathy Jennings; Jim and Beth Jennings. Sister Norma Dodson, brother Vick Jennings 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

REMINDER: Safety Village Sign Ups in Butler
Sign-ups for Safety Village will be held on Sunday, June 21st at the Old Butler High School from 5 – 7pm and is for children that are 4 and 5 years of age. Parents are encouraged to bring their participating child so they may meet their teen leaders and take a tour of Safety Village as well as filling out the appropriate paper work.
Safety Village will begin on Monday, June 22nd and will run through Friday, June 26th. Two sessions will be held this year, morning sessions will be from 9am until noon and the afternoon sessions will be held from 1 – 4pm.
Safety Village is a program that focuses on teaching safety to 4 and 5 year olds. It’s a week long program that is filled with activities to make learning safety objectives fun while they are learning.
Children participating are put in small groups of two or three and then assigned to a responsible teen helper. Each day offers stations of snacks, coloring and crafts, videos, role playing, and “driving” around Safety Village.
Safety Village is sponsored by the Bates County Elks Lodge. If further information is needed call 660-679-4025.

Giving Fore Living 3rd annual Darin Wainscott Memorial Golf Tournament and Banquet
The Giving Fore Living
organization is putting on its 3rd
annual Darin Wainscott Memorial Golf Tournament and Banquet. The
banquet will be held on Friday, June 12th
at the Adrian Optimist building in Adrian, MO. Doors will open at
6pm, and dinner will be served at 7pm. Banquet tickets are $20 per
person, children 12 & under are free. The menu includes: pork
chops, cheesy potatoes, baked beans, slaw, and roll. Hamburgers are
also offered for kids. This year’s banquet will be featuring the
band Breakaway and a special guest speaker, Larry Lefferts. Tickets
can be purchased at the door.
The golf tournament will
be held June 13th
& 14th at the
Butler Country Club in Butler, MO. The first flight begins Saturday
at 9am. Flight number two will begin on Sunday at 7am, and the third
flight Sunday at 1:30pm. Tournament style is 4-person scramble, $400
per team. Each team member will receive commemorative golf polo, a
hat/visor, and a G4L golf ball. Breakfast and lunch will be provided
on tournament day for all participants. To register a team, contact

prizes overall include 1st
place: $600, 2nd
place: $400, 3rd
place: $200. There will also be prizes awarded to closest-to-the-pin,
longest drive, longest putt, and a Skins game with 100% payback. And
for the lucky individual, who scores a hole-in-one on a certain hole,
will win a HUGE prize, courtesy of Max Motors.
The
organization is also selling raffle tickets on a Yamaha golf cart,
which is fuel, injected with custom tires, aluminum wheels along with
stereo and lights or a CASH option of $5,000. Tickets are $20.00
per ticket or 6 for $100 and the golf cart can be viewed at our local
Massey’s Country Mart. Raffle tickets are available at Massey’s
Country Mart, Drs. Noe, Miller and Miller, Adrian Bank and Farm
Bureau.
The drawing for the golf cart/cash option will be held
Sunday, June 14, 2015 at the Butler Country Club during the last day
of the golf tournament. All proceeds from this fundraising event go
to support the Darin Wainscott Memorial Scholarship, organ donation
education and awareness, and area love offerings.
Boot Scootin’ for Breast Cancer
The Butler Saddle Club will host a Tough Enough to Wear Pink “boot scooting” for breast cancer event, a 5k where participants can walk, peddle a bicycle or ride a horse on Saturday, June 20th.
Open registration for all events begins at 8am in the Bates County Fair Grounds Arena. Line up till be at 8:30 and the event will begin at 9am.
All the proceeds will go to the Bates County Memorial Hospital Cares which is a free mammogram program.
Registration fee is $25 for adults (18 and older; $20 for teen and youth (17 and younger). Each participant will receive a tee-shirt and if you would like to purchase a t-shirt only, the cost is just $15.
Starting point will be the Bates County Fair Grounds Arena and walkers and bikers will follow their trail while horseback riders will follow their own route.

Showers and thunderstorms will be moving into the KC metro within the next hour. Heavy rain may cause localized street flooding issues, so please slow down and use caution if you are still commuting to work or home, or running errands this morning.
In addition, we have issued a Flash Flood warning due to heavy rain across portions of Gentry, Harrison, Daviess, and DeKalb Counties.
