Clinton man arrested on St. Clair County Warrant

On June 1, Jason Brewer, 30, Clinton, was arrested at the St. Clair County Courthouse on a warrant from Clinton Police Department for failing to appear in court on a misdemeanor charge. 

The Bond was set at $1,000 cash only.

Nevada man arrested after Vernon County accident

The Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County arrested 40 year old Billy J. Shepherd of Nevada, Missouri around 12:49 a.m. this morning after a accident in Vernon County.

Mr. Shepherd was arrested on 1.) Misdemeanor driving while intoxicated 2.) Careless and imprudent driving resulting in a accident 3.) No seatbelt.

Obituary - Elizabeth Brown

Elizabeth Brown, age 93, of Nevada, MO passed from this life at 11:10 a.m. June 3, 2015 at Nevada Regional Medical Center. She was born November 10, 1921 in Sheldon, the daughter of Roy and Pearl (Orem) Carlton. On April 11, 1940 she was united in marriage to Alvin A. “Jack” Brown and he preceded her in death on March 30, 2004. Their union was blessed with six children.

Elizabeth was raised in Sheldon attending a country school in Avola then Sheldon High School. After her marriage to Jack she was a homemaker, wife, and Mother caring for her growing family. She did work for a time at West Side CafĂ© in Nevada and Key’s in Lamar. She lived most of her life in Sheldon until moving to Nevada eleven years ago. She was a longtime member of the Sheldon United Methodist Church. When time allowed she enjoyed bowling, playing cards and square-dancing with friends and family. She was also an accomplished quilter.

Survivors include her children, Joann Jones of Sheldon; Bob Brown and wife Ida of Rogers, AR; Sue Spencer and husband Larry of Saskatchewan, Canada; Ray Brown and wife Norma of Lee’s Summit; Bill Brown and wife Delila also of Lee’s Summit; Don Brown and wife Charlotte of Diamond; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

Graveside services for Erma Elizabeth Brown will be held at 2:30 Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Sheldon Cemetery in Sheldon, MO. A visitation is scheduled from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

Those who wish may contribute in her memory to the Sheldon Cemetery in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

Minnesota woman escapes serious injury in Vernon County Crash

A Minnesota resident escaped serious injury in a one vehicle accident Wednesday night in Vernon County. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the wreck happened at 11:55 P.M. Wednesday night on I-49, 1 mile South of Milo, in Vernon County, involving a 2015 Freightliner driven by 56 year old Joyce Wilson, of Elgin, Minnesota. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when  Wilson was traveling Northbound when she ran off the side of the roadway and overturned. 

Wilson was listed with minor injuries and transported to Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada. 

A passenger, 60 year old Mary Bennett, of St. Augustine, Florida, was listed with minor injuries and transported to Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada. 

Nevada man seriously injured in early morning crash

A Nevada man was seriously injured in a two vehicle accident Thursday morning in Vernon County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck happened just before 12:40 A.M. Thursday morning on I-49, 1 mile South of Milo, in Vernon County, involving a 1992 Chevy 1500 driven by 40 year old Billy Shepherd. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred as Mr. Shepherd was driving Northbound when he struck the rear of a 2005 Freightliner Tractor Trailer driven by 48 year old Roman Sanchez, of Tamaolipas, Mexico, who was stopped for a previous crash. 

Billy Shepherd was listed with serious injuries and transported to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin. Sanchez was listed with no injury.
