Linn County Kansas Emergency Management: Marais Des Cygne River at La Cygne to crest Monday

The NWS is saying that the threat for severe weather is low as is heavy rain for afternoon/evening thunderstorms. More storms are expected overnight as well. There are chances for thunderstorms and severe weather again on Saturday and Sunday. They are not yet saying when these storms may occur but it is usually in the afternoon and evening hours. More information will be provided when it becomes available.

The Marais des Cygne river at La Cygne is forecast to crest on theevening of Monday, June 8 in the late afternoon/evening hours. The current projection is just above 25 feet for the crest.

At 25 feet some low-lying farm ground is flooded. It may impact some gravel roads as well. This will likely change as we get additional rains over the weekend into early next week. The more rain we get here and upstream will determine how high the waters go.
