Bicyclist hit by truck today in Vernon County

The Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County responded to accident involving a vehicle and a bicyclist this morning around 7:30 a.m. on Missouri 43 Highway just North of Bronaugh, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1994 Ford Ranger driven by 30 year old Christopher Million of Bronaugh, Missouri was South bound on Missouri 43 when he struck with his passenger side mirror 61 year old Edward E. Post who was on a bicycle.


Mr Post received moderate injuries in this accident and was transported by ambulance to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

Obituary - Marilyn M. Ison

Marilyn M. Ison, 78 of Independence, Missouri passed away June 22, 2015 at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, June 26, 2015 at the Mullinax Funeral Home – Drexel Chapel in Drexel, Missouri (660-679-0009). Visitation will be prior to services from 1-2 PM at the Chapel. Burial will follow in Sharon Cemetery near Drexel. Obituary - Loretta M. Keller

Loretta M. Keller, 95, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015 in Kansas City, Missouri. Memorial services will be held at a later date. 

Loretta was born January 14, 1920 in Todd County, Minnesota, the daughter of William Antone and Lonnie M. (Line) Biermaier. She was a homemaker. 

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Grover Daniel McKinney, four brothers, Donald Biemaier, Lawrence Biemaier, Lloyd Biermaier and Kenneth Biermaier and two sisters, Ethel D. Jones and Verena Hillmer. She is survived by one daughter, Loretta “Gail” Gordon and her husband, John, Harrisonville, Missouri and one brother, Duane Biermaier, St. Paul, Minnesota.

Butler Youth Football Sign-ups‏

Butler Youth Football is having sign-ups Mon-Fri nights 6-8:30pm at the east baseball diamond concession stand in Butler; now through Friday July 3rd.  

Sign-ups may be filled out in person or by filling out the attached form and mailing it in (instructions on form) or dropping it off at either Community First Bank locations.  

Completed forms and payment are due to Butler Youth Football not later than July 24, 2015 .

Obituary - James Earl Weaver II

James Earl Weaver II
James Earl Weaver II, 73, passed away on June 20, 2015 at his home in Warr Acres, Oklahoma. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2015 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Harrisonville, Missouri. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Oklahoma Historical Society or the Fiber Artists of Oklahoma.
James was born on June 30, 1941 in Harrisonville, Missouri, the son of James Earl and Eldine (Atkinson) Weaver. He grew up in Harrisonville, Missouri and was a 1959 graduate of Harrisonville High School. While in high school, James participated in football, basketball and track, and was active in instrumental and vocal music, as well as class plays. He played football through the semi-pro level.

After high school, James attended William Jewell College and the University of Kansas. In later years, he attended Drury University, the Air Force Institute of Technology, and Holy Name Hospital/Edison College. He received a Bachelor of Science and became a Registered Nurse. Finally, he received a Master of Science from Indiana Wesleyan and became a Certified Nurse Practitioner. James married Barbara Klein in 1984 in Ohio. He worked for the Ford Motor Company and served almost 10 years with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. He was also proud of his years as a maintenance planner for the Air Force Logistics Command and happiest providing Pediatric and Family Practice medical care.

James was a member of the United Masonic Lodge #5, Springfield, Missouri. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite Temple in Guthrie, Oklahoma. He was also a member of the York Rite Masonic Bodies in Dayton, Ohio. He was a friend of Bill. James was a member of the Oklahoma Historical Society, OKC Museum of Art, NRA, and Oklahoma Native Plant Society. He enjoyed singing, history, religion, art, and continually learning.

James is survived by his spouse Barbara, of the home; his daughters, Mary Elizabeth Watson (Robert) and Anna Margaret Callendar (David); two brothers, Christopher Weaver (Chrissy), Michael Weaver; one sister, Martha Jane McGrade (Ted), and granddaughters, Lindsay Callendar and Abigail Watson.

Updated Obituary - Margie Ketron

Margie Ketron, 79 of Oak Grove, Missouri formerly of Butler died Friday, June 19 at her home in Oak Grove. Memorial services will be 11 am, Tuesday, June 30 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler. Visitation will be from 10-11 am Tuesday, June 30 at the chapel prior to services. Margie is survived by her husband Bill Ketron of the home; son Rick Yazel and wife Marilyn of Enid, Oklahoma; daughter Donna Minnick and husband Danny of Oak Grove, Missouri; two sisters-in-law Gerry Ketron and Charmane Ketron both of Butler; five grand children and 10 great-grandchildren.

St.Clair County Sheriffs Office: Property damage reported at Brush Creek Access

On June 19, a St. Clair County deputy took a report of property damage at the Brush Creek Access on NE 250 Road, Osceola. Friends of Brush Creek Vice President James Terry reported several ruts were made in the grass on Thursday evening between 7-8 p.m. 

Evidence was collected from the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
