Obituary - Michael K. Musick

Michael K. Musick, 52, of Paola, KS passed away June 23, 2015 at his home in Paola. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Friday, June 26, 2015 at the Mullinax Funeral Home - Drexel Chapel in Drexel, MO. (660-679-0009). Visitation will be prior to services from 9:30 - 10:30 am at the chapel. Burial will follow in Sharon Cemetery near Drexel. Contributions in memory of Mike are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association - Heart of America Chapter. Messages of condolence for the family may be left at www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com.

Mike was born September 7, 1962 in Paola, KS to Keith and Juanita (Sides) Musick. He graduated from Louisburg High School in 1981 and attend DeVry University. Mike worked for many years as a finish carpenter. He was a simple guy. Mike found the most enjoyment in fishing, especially in Minnesota, and spending time with friends. He will forever be remembered as a laid back guy with a big heart, willing to help anyone and a friend to all. Mike was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sisters, Vicki Davey of Drexel, MO and Cheryl Musick of Olathe, KS, nieces, Christina and Elizabeth Davey, nephew Tristan Musick, daughter Jennifer Dolan, girlfriend Sherri West, and by his beloved dog and companion Lacy.

Obituary - Ava Irene Ray

Ava Irene Ray, 87, Lone Jack, Missouri, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Checotah in Checotah, Oklahoma with burial in Council Hill Cemetery, Council Hill, Oklahoma. 

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice House, 1500 Meadow Lake Parkway, Suite 210, Kansas City, MO 64114. (A complete obituary will be posted when available)

Aviation Day Saturday at the Butler Airport

Fly in or drive in to “aviation day” at the Butler Airport this Saturday, June 27th between 10am and 2pm. There will be demonstration flights, R/C airplanes, quadcopters, skydiving demos, and static displays. Life Flight and other aircraft are scheduled to appear.

Lunch begins after 11am and they will be serving hot dogs and hamburger meals for just $5 per person. If you fly in you will receive 2 free meal tickets.

There will be a spot landing and mail drop competition with an entry fee of $10 per event with a $50 cash prize payout per event.
 

Skydiving will be available, plenty of free parking and the event will be held rain or shine.bcl420

Obituary - Gladys Edna Hocker

Gladys Edna Hocker, 67, Archie, Missouri, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2015 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, Missouri with visitation from 10:00-11:00. Inurnment will follow in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to the Miami School Library.

UPDATE: Structure Fire in Butler Yesterday

On Tuesday, June 23, at approximately 5:18 P.M., the Butler Fire Department was dispatched to 104 S. Olive for a report of a residential structure fire.

On arrival, smoke was found from a single story, wood frame residential structure. Upon entry, the fire was located in the kitchen area.

The fire was declared under control at approximately 5:46 P.M. after checking for any extension of the fire.

There was significant damage to the area of origin, with moderate smoke and heat damage throughout the remainder of the structure. There were no injuries. The fire was determined to be accidental in nature.

The last unit left the scene at 6:23 P.M.
