Maurice Cox, age 95 of Mound City, Kansas passed away July 2, 2015 at the St. Luke''s South Hospital.

A memorial service for Maurice will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 10:30 am at Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Inurnment will be in Sunny Slope Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude''s Children''s Hospital. Donations may be sent in care of Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, P.O. Box J, Mound City, Kansas 66056. Missouri State Highway Patrol Arrest Report Bates County: Blue Springs man arrested

On 7/6/15 around 5:30 p.m. The Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 50 year old Rodney J. Halsey of Blue Springs, Missouri.

Mr. Halsey was arrested on 1.) Felony Possession of controlled substance. He was arrested and booked into the Bates County Jail and was later released.

Power line down near grade school, crews in route

Butler city electric crews are on the way to a location on Dakota street near the Butler grade school on a report of a power line on the ground and sparking. Butler police have cordoned off the area until the situation is brought under control, use caution if in the area or avoid altogether if possible.
