Vernon County teen arrested after vehicle pursuit

A Vernon County resident is in custody following the issuance of warrants that stemmed from a vehicle pursuit last weekend. According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was patrolling the area of 1413 Rd. where a truck had recently been stolen. The truck had been recovered, but deputies had found a bumper from a car with a license plate on it that had been left in the back of the truck when it was recovered.

Early Saturday morning (July 4th) the deputy patrolling the area noticed a vehicle with an expired tag. The deputy also noticed the tag matched the tag that was found on the bumper in the back of the stolen truck. The deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle and the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed. The pursuit continued to the Richards area and then came to an end on 54 Hwy near Deerfield.

When the vehicle came to a stop, the driver got out of the car with a baseball bat. After a short struggle, the driver was taken into custody by deputies. The driver has been identified as 17 year old Trey M Stone of Vernon County. According to Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher, warrants have been issued charging Stone with Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Carless and Imprudent Driving. Stone is being held in the Vernon County Jail with total bonds of $6,500 cash only. The Sheriff also said a female passenger was in the vehicle and is facing minor charges. When asked if Stone could face charges regarding the stolen truck, Sheriff Mosher said he could not comment on that case because it was still under investigation.

Horse show postponed for now

The 4 H Horse show originally scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday July 9) at 9 am has been canceled due to the weather. It will be rescheduled at a later date.

What the numbers mean for you...

About once a month, we at Mid America Live run reports to see how we're doing. The good news? We've consistently grown each and every month since our very first news post in 2010.

The image to the left shows our little 'ol news web site has reached almost 31,000 people this week through Facebook alone. The image below shows that almost 14,000 viewed the Mid America Live web page just yesterday.

So are we boasting? Not at all. We want our advertisers and future advertisers to see the true power of potentially how many people will see their ad.

Cost of advertising? VERY low comparatively. If you spent $50 for a display ad last month and 300,000 pairs of eyes hit our page- well, you can divide 50 by 300,000 and see that per impression, your cost is very, very low!

Ready to advertise? Call us today at 660.464.0289 and we'll get your ad put up....today!

Weather: Rain and heat. Then more rain...

"If you don't like Missouri weather, just wait, it'll change"... sometimes not for the better, we'll add.

It looks like the weekend will be dry, but, HOT. Expect humidity levels to be high as well on Saturday and Sunday.

Fortunately, for the Bates County Fair most all events can and will be held under a roof- we'll keep you updated on any changes in schedule or locations!
