Route B bridge east of Rich Hill closed...

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a county bridge on B highway, some 10 miles east of Rich Hill is being closed for emergency repairs and may be closed for up to two weeks.

Nevada Police Arrest Burglary Suspect and Recover Property

On October 26, 2015, police were dispatched to the W. F. Norman, located in the 200 block of N. Cedar.

The owner reported to police that the establishment had been burglarized during the overnight hour of October 25 – 26. A business door had been forced which allowed the suspect to unsuccessfully attempt entry into a business safe and ultimately steal $3,400 dollars in copper art and various tools.


Police processed the crime scene and recovered latent fingerprint evidence. Investigators reported the crime to scrap yard operators to solicit their help in this case. This led to the identification of a suspect and recovery of the copper art work. Detectives followed investigative leads to the 800 block of E. Ashland where police located the suspect.

Upon initial contact the subject fled the scene with police in foot pursuit. He was captured by officers about one block from the scene and transported to the Nevada Police station where he received the Miranda warning and was interviewed. Police recovered the stolen tools, a large amount of copper artwork and keys to the company truck that was unsuccessfully stolen from the business.

The suspect was searched and handcuffed by Nevada Police before transport to the Vernon County Jail.

The suspect, an 18 year old Nevada resident was identified as Jeremy M. Haral and remains in custody on the following charges from the Vernon County Associate Circuit Court;


  • Burglary 2 Degree C Felony 
  • Stealing C Felony
  • Resisting Arrest D Felony

Bond was set at $25,000 cash only.

Obituary - James L. Crosswhite

James L. Crosswhite, age 86 years, of Clinton, Missouri passed away Monday, October 26, 2015 at Clinton Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Clinton, Missouri.

Among survivors is his wife, Mary of the home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, Missouri and are pending this time.






Traffic stop in Garden City results in drug arrest

Around 12:15p.m. this afternoon Officers of the Garden City Police Department conducted a traffic stop at Sycamore Grove Road and 7 Hwy.

During the stop, Officers discovered approximately 200 baggies, two holsters, a loaded 9mm magazine, electronic scales and $2,800 dollars in cash in possession of the passenger of the vehicle.

The passenger was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and was bonded at the Garden City Police Department.

Jerry M. Stewart, 72, of Deepwater, Missouri died Sunday,October 25, 2015 at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Mo.

Clinton man arrested in Henry County

On 10/25/15 around 5:35p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County arrested 58 year old Thomas W. Ward of Clinton, Missouri.

Mr. Ward was arrested for 1.) Felony Unlawful Possession of a firearm 2.) Felony Possession of a controlled substance 3.) Unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.


 He was booked into the Henry County Jail and placed on a 10,000$ Cash/Surety bond.

Breaking News: Harrisonville teenager injured in Cass County rollover crash

Around 3:00 p.m.today the Missouri State highway Patrol in Cass County along with the Cass County Sheriffs Office responded to a one vehicle accident on Route TT Highway just South of 291 Street in rural Cass County.

Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1997 Chevrolet driven by 18 year old Izak P. Bergschneider of Harrisonville, Missouri traveled off the right side of the roadway striking a ditch and overturning ejecting the driver.


Mr. Bergschneider sustained moderate injuries in this accident and was transported by Harrisonville EMS to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. 


The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Johnson's Tow Company.
