Clinton man arrested Henry County

Around 2:25 p.m. this afternoon the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County arrested 20 year old Jacob D. Bellomy of Clinton, Missouri.

Mr. Bellomy was arrested for 1.) Felony Warrant 2.) Felony Fleeing.

He was booked into the Henry County Jail and placed on a 5,000 cash only bond.

Butler students get a surprise visit

Butler elementary students got a surprise visit shortly after lunch today as Sluggerrr, Kansas City Royals mascot, dropped by the school. The fun and games were accompanied with a lesson about teamwork which was met with pure joy by the students. 

Two arrested after police chase in Archie

Yesterday afternoon the Archie Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation, also that same vehicle was seen leaving the scene of a suspicious fire earlier in the day.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle which fled from the Officers. The chase ended at 355th St. West of McCoy Road.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol as well as the Bates County Sheriff's Office assisted in the pursuit.

After a drug dog alerted inside the vehicle, a search of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia. Items were also recovered from a burglary that had occurred earlier in Archie. Two subjects were taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing.

Obituary - Lillia Bertice (Houdeshell) Bogart

Lillia Bertice (Houdeshell) Bogart
Lillia Bertice (Houdeshell) Bogart, 91, Nevada, MO passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada. Lillia was born on October 11, 1924 in Hiattville, KS to Ralph Paul and Gladys Francis (Henning) Houdeshell.

Lillia attended Sheldon High School and graduated with the Class of 1943. Following high school Lillia attended Southwest Missouri State Teachers College in Springfield, MO, now known as Missouri State University. She then began teaching at Wild Rose, a one room school. On August 21, 1944, after his return from WWII, Lillia married Harold H. (Pete) Bogart. They were married for 34 years before he preceded her in death on November 13, 1978. After their marriage they lived in Denver, CO until Harold’s discharge from the Army Air Corp. They then returned to Vernon County to farm. In 1951 they moved to Pleasant Valley, MO and raised their growing family. In 1974 they moved to their farm near Bronaugh where she continued to live until 2004 when she moved to Kearney, MO. In September 2014 she returned to Nevada and Vernon County to live out her life.

Lilia is survived by her four children, Kathy Heitmann, Kansas City, MO, Diane Springer and her husband Jim, Kansas City, MO, Keith Bogart and his wife Patty, Nevada, and Linda Schaefer and her husband Steve, Kansas City, MO; 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Daniel Ralph (Jr.) Houdeshell and his wife Betty, Nevada, Anna Maude Bogart, Sheldon, Mae Lamb, Nevada, Ruby Wright and her husband Charles, Sheldon, Pauline Stansill, Sheldon, Patricia Schwartz, Nevada, Ellen Brooks and her husband Mike, Milo, Dinah Smith and her husband Charlie, Nevada, Sarah Underwood and her husband Ralph, Nevada, Jim Houdeshell, Nevada, Wanda Watts and her husband Richard, Nevada, and Raymond Houdeshell, Nevada; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Robert, Lloyd and Lee; two sisters, Lenora McElwee and Viola Chancellor; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Schaefer.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, November 23, 2015 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon, MO. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Monday prior to the service.

Obituary - Gary W. Atchison

Gary W. Atchison, 69, Clinton, MO, died at St. Luke's Hospital, on November 18, 2015. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Consalus Funeral Home, Clinton, MO.

Obituary - Virginia Lee Moore

Virginia Lee Moore
Virginia Lee Moore, 84, Nevada, MO passed from this life on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin following a brief illness. Virginia was born on November 15, 1931 in Walker, MO to Claude and Eunice (Hulse) McCrery. She was united in marriage to Claude Jay Moore on August 5, 1955 in Nevada and he preceded her in death on June 2, 2015.

Virginia was raised in the Walker area and attended Walker High School graduating with the Class of 1950. She was employed by Key Work Clothes in Nevada for 35 years until her retirement. Virginia loved traveling, fishing, and camping with Claude. The Atlanta Braves were her favorite baseball team and she enjoyed watching them on T.V.

Survivors include her son, Dusty Moore and his wife Penne, Nevada; grandchildren, Jay Diederich and his wife Vera, Renita Hale and her husband Shane, Jessica Holden, Sam Moore and his wife Kristina, Emily Howarth and her husband Blake; four great grandchildren; one brother, Marvin McCrery and his wife Patty, Jerico Springs, MO; and a sister-in-law, Nancy McCrery, Nevada. In addition to her husband Claude, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Anita Diederich in 2001, and one brother, Richard McCrery in 2015.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Moore Cemetery in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

Those who wish may contribute in her memory to Vernon County Cancer Relief in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.

The Butler Fire Department along with crews from Liberty Utilities and the Butler Police Department are at a residence located at 202 S. High Street in Butler on a possible gas leak.
