Deputy arrests 17 year Missouri high school student after threat to administrator with a knife this morning.

A Pettis County School Resource Deputy arrested a 17 year old student at Smith-Cotton High School this morning following an incident where the student threatened an administrator with a knife.

The incident occurred about 9:30 this morning in a school hallway. Other students were immediately placed on lockdown in their classrooms for safety.

The deputy deployed his Taser during the arrest. A school security officer and administrators assisted during the incident.

The student was transported to the Pettis County Jail and held pending the filing of charges in the case. After he was off property, the lockdown was canceled and students were released to change classes by the end of the class period.

No other students were involved or injured during the incident.

The school has resumed to normal operations. No action by the public is required.

The family has asked that you drop by, sign the register book, look at Mark's memory wall and fill out a personal memory folder and leave it at the funeral home.

Kansas City woman arrested in Bates County on drug charges

On 12/12/15 around 12:49 a.m. the Missouri Sate Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 25 year old Cassy D. Keith of Kansas City, Mo.

She was arrested for 1.) Felony possession of a controlled substance - Methamphetamine 2.) Felony Warrant - Henry County Sheriffs Office 3.) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Keith was booked into the Bates County Jail and is listed as bond able.

Obituary - Bryce Manser


Funeral services for Bryce Manser will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2015 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-655) in Butler, Missouri. Visitation will be prior to services from 10-11 a.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Missouri.

Bryce Philip Manser, age 97 of Raytown, Missouri died Friday, December 11, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born October 14, 1918.

Bryce is survived by his brother, Lynnville Manser of Independence, Missouri; sister-in-law, Gladys Nesmith and husband Robert of Springfield, Missouri; and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife Alsie in May 2006.




Drug arrest in Garden City

At approximately 5:00 today, Officers of the Garden City Police Department received a report of suspicious activity in the 500 block of Old 7 Hwy. Officers contacted a group of two juveniles and an 18 year old man from Garden City.

While visiting with the individuals, Officers discovered a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The 18 year old Garden City man was taken to the Garden City Police Department where he posted bond.

The juveniles were released to their parents.

Forklift accident in Garden City

Officers of the Garden City Police Department are on the scene of a non-injury motor vehicle accident between a forklift driven by a 45 year old Kansas City man and a pickup truck at driven by a unknown Garden City man at Old 7 Hwy & F Hwy. Please use caution when traveling in this area.
