Student charged after knife incident at Smith-Cotton High School

A 17-year-old student was arrested Monday morning at Smith-Cotton High School after allegedly threatening a school administrator with a knife, according to Pettis County Sheriff Kevin Bond.

At 9:31 a.m., deputies from the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office responded to Smith-Cotton High School on a report of a disturbance involving a student with a knife in a hallway at the high school. Bond said a school administrator was taking some disciplinary action against the student.

Obituary - Wade Paul Hicks

Wade Paul Hicks, 86, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Monday, December 14, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 17 at the Faith Baptist Church in Harrisonville with visitation from 10:00-11:00.

Burial will be in Urich Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Baptist Church memorial fund, VFW, or Salvation Army.

MDC sets Turkey and Deer hunting dates and regulation changes

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – At its meeting on Dec. 11, the Missouri Conservation Commission approved recommendations by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) for the 2016-2017 deer-hunting season and the 2016 turkey-hunting seasons. The recommendations include turkey-hunting and deer-hunting season dates, changes to turkey-hunting allowed methods, and changes to the deer-hunting season structure and allowed methods.

Spring Youth Portion: April 9 and 10, 2016
Spring Turkey Season: April 18 through May 8, 2016

FALL DEER AND TURKEY HUNTING DATES

DEER AND TURKEY HUNTING REGULATION CHANGES
The Commission approved the following regulations changes regarding deer and turkey hunting:

Deputy arrests 17 year Missouri high school student after threat to administrator with a knife this morning.

A Pettis County School Resource Deputy arrested a 17 year old student at Smith-Cotton High School this morning following an incident where the student threatened an administrator with a knife.

The incident occurred about 9:30 this morning in a school hallway. Other students were immediately placed on lockdown in their classrooms for safety.

The deputy deployed his Taser during the arrest. A school security officer and administrators assisted during the incident.

The student was transported to the Pettis County Jail and held pending the filing of charges in the case. After he was off property, the lockdown was canceled and students were released to change classes by the end of the class period.

No other students were involved or injured during the incident.

Mark A. Phillips, Clinton, died Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Among other survivors is his mother, Rose Ann Phillips, Clinton, Missouri.

A lying in-state Memorial Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM this Thursday and Friday, December 17 and 18, 2015 and again Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, December 21, 22 and 23, 2015 at Consalus Funeral Home, 209 S. 2nd St., Clinton, MO.

The family has asked that you drop by, sign the register book, look at Mark's memory wall and fill out a personal memory folder and leave it at the funeral home.
