Three year old Kansas boy among injured in Vernon County crash

Around 11;45 a.m. this morning the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County along with Vernon County Sheriffs Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on I-49 6 miles South of Nevada.

Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2000 Toyota Accord driven by 60 year old Deborah S. Prewitt of Parsons, Kansas lost control on sleet covered roadway and traveled off the right side of the roadway before striking a fence and tree.

Three people were injured in this accident 27 year old Jenny A. Prewitt, 3 year old Dominic A. Prewitt and Deborah S. Prewitt all of Parsons, Kansas sustained minor injuries in this accident and all three was transported by ambulance to Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada, Missouri.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by TCB Towing.

Two children injured in Cass County crash

On 12/28/15 around 3:40 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriffs Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident on Northbound Route D just South of 215th Street in rural Cass County.

Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by 39 year old Rachel E. Ropp of Raymore, Missouri slid on ice covered roadway and crossed the centerline and was struck by a 2012 Ford E250 driven by 43 year old Jeffrey W. Pinneo of Osawatomie, Kansas.

Two children in the Ropp vehicle were injured in this accident 9 year old Naomi R. Ropp and 7 year old Cora J. Ropp both of Raymore, Missouri sustained minor injuries in this accident and both was transported to Children's Mercy Hospital by ambulance.

The vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene by J's Southland Tow.

Osceola man arrested on felony warrants

On Dec. 23, Micky Kottwitz, 40, Osceola, was arrested in Osceola on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with class C felony possession of a controlled substance. Bond is set at $15,000. 

The charge stems from an incident on Aug. 28 at a residence on NE 471 Road, Osceola. During the investigation, St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office deputies and members of the Mid Missouri Multi Jurisdiction Drug Task Force discovered paraphernalia that field test positive methamphetamine in Kottwitz’s possession.

Cass County man arrested in Bates County

On 12/27/15 around 6:27 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 32 year old Victor A. Borden of Peculiar, Missouri.

Mr. Borden was arrested for 1.) Driving while Intoxicated 2.) Expired Registration 3.) Failure to drive on the right half of the roadway 4.) Driving while suspend.

He was booked into the Bates County Jail and placed on a 12 hour hold.

Riverside Missouri man arrested in Bates County

On 12/26/15 around 12:36 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 34 year old Raynardo Hadley of Riverside, Missouri.

Mr. Hadley was arrested for 1.) Driving while intoxicated - Prior Offender 2.) No Seatbelt 3.) No insurance 4.) Speeding 26 mph over the speed limit.

He was booked into the Bates County Jail and placed on a 12 hour hold.

Obituary - Shirley Anne Klumpp

Click Image To View Full SizeShirley Anne Klumpp, age 80, of Nevada, MO passed from this life on December 25, 2015 at her daughter’s home in Raymore, MO after a brief illness. She was born March 9, 1935 in Nevada, the only child of Hubert and Joy Estelle (Sheets) Mynatt. On July 19, 1952 she was united in marriage to David Richard Klumpp and he preceded her in death on July 27, 2007. Together the couple became the parents of four children.

During her working years, Shirley was employed with the catalogue division of J.C. Penney, worked for five years at 3-M, then lastly sold real estate in the Nevada Vernon county area. She was an accomplished doll maker as well as collector, was a longtime member of the Nevada Elks Lodge, and was a MENSA member - - something that less than 2% of the population have achieved. In the past she and her husband had enjoyed square dancing with the Bushwhacker Square Dancers. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the local Storefront School project. Many Monday evenings were spent with The Oakes Neighborhood Community Friends for their wine time get-togethers.

Survivors include her children, Joy Smith and husband Daniel of Raymore; Kathy Schmalz and husband Robert of Olathe, KS; Rick Klumpp and wife Teresa of Richards; and Jennifer Morgan and husband Michael of Harrisonville; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; and her uncle, Glenn Sheets of Nevada. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents.

A visitation for Shirley Anne Klumpp is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Cremation will follow with interment at a later date next to her husband in Newton Burial Park in Nevada.

Those who wish may contribute in her memory to Vernon County Cancer Relief in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
