Obituary - Michael "Mike" E. Strong

Michael “Mike” E. Strong
Michael “Mike” E. Strong, 34, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, died Monday, January 25, 2016 at his home. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Mike was born May 4, 1981 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was raised by his grandparents, Hershell and Barbara (Kagarice) Strong. He attended Lee’s Summit High School with the Class of 2000. Mike married Michelle J. Bell on August 9, 2012 in Butler, Missouri. He worked for Enersys in Kansas City as a field service engineer.

Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Michelle, and one son, Bow Strong, both of the home; one brother, Randy Wining (Cassandra), and his best friend, Ryan Yearout (Tabitha).

Harrisonville police buy body-worn cameras

Harrisonville police will soon record interactions with the public with cameras attached to their vests.

Police Chief John Hofer said the department purchased the cameras in late December. Officers will be trained on usage and policy Feb. 4, and Hofer said he’s aiming for March 1 to equip his officers with the cameras.

Breaking News: Fatality accident closes Missouri Highway 13 in Clinton


Missouri Highway 13 is currently closed at this time in Clinton, Missouri as the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County investigates a serious crash.

The crash is said to have happened at 6:20 p.m. and involved two vehicles.

One person has been killed in this accident and the Highway remains closed at this time.

Obituary - Lorinda Orear


Funeral services for Lorinda Orear will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the Hume Christian Church in Hume, Missouri. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Hume Christian Church. Burial in Salem Cemetery, Foster, Missouri. Contributions to Lorinda Orear Memorial Fund. Services under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler, Missouri.

Lorinda Lee Orear, age 80 of Hume, Missouri died Friday, January 22, 2016 in Hume. She was born December 2, 1935 to Roy and Agnes Luetta Evans Daniel in Butler, Missouri.

Lorinda is survived by her husband Buford Cecil Orear of Hume, Missouri; two sons, Shawn Orear and wife Angelena and Stacy, all of Hume, Missouri; one brother, Jack Daniel and wife Renee of ElDorado Springs, Missouri; one sister, Lois Bonavee Cayton of Appleton City, Missouri; and two granddaughters, Kayla Orear and Katie Pruitt and husband Eric, all of Hume, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents.










Two from Archie injured in bizzare Cass County crash

Around 1:20 p.m. this afternoon the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County responded to a one vehicle accident on Route Y Southbound at County Road 233rd in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by 35 year old Stephanie M. Clinesmith of Archie, Missouri was being towed by another vehicle Southbound on Route Y when she lost control of the vehicle on a curve causing it to separate from the vehicle towing it.

The vehicle traveled off the roadway striking a stop sign and hitting a utility pole before coming to rest of the road.

Stephanie Clinesmith along with a passenger 37 year old Shaun M. Cox of Archie, Missouri were both transported by West Peculiar Fire to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. The vehicle was towed from the scene by J's Southland Towing.

Man found dead in burning trailer in Southern Missouri


JASPER, Mo. (AP) - Authorities in Jasper County say a 34-year-old man has been found dead inside a burning travel trailer.

The Jasper County Sheriff's Department said Saturday in a release that deputies responded to a call of a fire at the trailer in Jasper late Friday night.


When they arrived they found Joseph Pennington dead inside. He had been living in the trailer.

The sheriff's department says the death appears to be accidental but has scheduled an autopsy.

The cause of the fire is under investigation

Rollover accident North of Rich Hill injures two

Around 10:00 pm last night the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with the Bates County Sheriffs Office responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on County Road 517 0.1 miles North of 6th Street in Rich Hill.

The Missouri State Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by 20 year old Dustin A. Ross of Rich Hill, Missouri failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The Cavalier traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned and landed on its top.

Dustin A Ross and a passenger in his vehicle 21 year old Teisha J. Lesmeister both of Rich Hill sustained minor injuries in this accident and both were transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital by private vehicle.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Gilkey's Tow of Rich Hill.

Vernon County accident sends one to the hospital

Around 5:35 pm last night the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County responded to a one vehicle accident on Missouri 54 Highway 5 miles West of Deerfield.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2009 Hyundai Genesis driven by 24 year old Christopher L. Frazier of Nevada, Missouri attempted to pass the 2003 Mercury Sable driven by 52 year old Karyn E. Freeze of Ft. Scott Kansas when Frazier lost control of his vehicle and struck the Mercury in the side and forcing off the roadway into several trees.

Karyn E. Freeze sustained moderate injuries in his accident and was transported to Ft. Scott Hospital in Ft. Scott Kansas. Mr. Frazier wasn't injured in this accident.

The Mercury received moderate damage and was towed from the scene by Pearson Towing of Redfield, Kansas. The Hyundai sustained minor damages in this accident and was driven from the scene.
