During the weekend of January 27th 2016 the Linn County Landfill was broken into. Taken was the cash box containing approximately $70 in cash and some checks.
The box was described as light brown metal with a combination lock.

Marvin Glenn Bowman Sr., 79, Archie, Missouri, died Friday, January 29, 2016 at his home in Archie.
Cremation with no services scheduled.

On 1/29/16 around 10:35 pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Saline County along with The Saline County Sheriffs Office responded to a two vehicle accident on I-70 Eastbound at Mile Marker 77.2 in Saline County.
Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2002 Volkswagen Jetta driven by 20 year old Taylor R. Beckenbach of Blue Springs, Missouri was stopped on the roadway partially blocking the right lane when she was struck by 2012 Ford van driven by 59 year old Kim A. Ross of Madison Illinois.
The collision caused both vehicles to begin sliding on the roadway before coming to a stop in the right lane of traffic. The van struck the ground, overturned and came to stop in the left lanes of traffic.
Three people from the Volkswagen were transported by Air Ambulance with injuries Taylor R. Beckenbach sustained minor injuries, 44 year old Eric S. Preston of Harrisonville, Missouri sustained serious injuries in this accident and 20 year old Melissa Short of Blue Springs, Missouri sustained serious injuries in this accident. Kim A. Ross refused medical treatment,
The vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene by Don's Towing.

On Jan. 28, David McKinney, 34, Appleton City, was arrested on two St. Clair County warrants charging him with class A misdemeanor domestic assault-third degree and class A misdemeanor assault on a law enforcement officer-third degree. Total bond is set at $20,000 cash or surety.
The charges stem from an incident the previous day when St. Clair County deputies responded to Third Street in Appleton City in reference to a domestic disturbance in progress. McKinney allegedly threatened the life of a female victim and her family. The victim stated McKinney refused to let her leave the house. Later the same day a deputy made contact with McKinney and he threatened the life of the deputy.
During the contact, McKinney also made advances placing the deputy in apprehension of physical attack.
Opal June King, 81, Independence, Missouri, died Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Rosewood Health and Rehab Center in Independence. (Cremation).
Opal was born October 11, 1934 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Fred Raymond and Nellie Frances (Young) Grossnickle. She had lived in Kansas City and Independence most of her life. Opal had worked in housekeeping at several local hospitals in the Independence, Missouri area.
Opal was preceded in death by two sons, John Robert Wheeler, Jr. and Jeffrey Wheeler. She is survived by two sons, Justin Wheeler and Jerry Wheeler; three daughters, Joyce Spieler, Janet Heavner, and Judy Barlow; two sisters, Shirley Markle, and Harriett Mason.

Michael “Mike” E. Strong, 34, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, died Monday, January 25, 2016 at his home. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mike was born May 4, 1981 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was raised by his grandparents, Hershell and Barbara (Kagarice) Strong. He attended Lee’s Summit High School with the Class of 2000. Mike married Michelle J. Bell on August 9, 2012 in Butler, Missouri. He worked for Enersys in Kansas City as a field service engineer.
Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Michelle, and one son, Bow Strong, both of the home; one brother, Randy Wining (Cassandra), and his best friend, Ryan Yearout (Tabitha).
Harrisonville police will soon record interactions with the public with cameras attached to their vests.
Police Chief John Hofer said the department purchased the cameras in late December. Officers will be trained on usage and policy Feb. 4, and Hofer said he’s aiming for March 1 to equip his officers with the cameras.

Missouri Highway 13 is currently closed at this time in Clinton, Missouri as the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County investigates a serious crash.
The crash is said to have happened at 6:20 p.m. and involved two vehicles.
One person has been killed in this accident and the Highway remains closed at this time.
