Ballard High School students Holly Tate and Micah Patrick are selling TNT Fireworks in the Butler Walmart parking lot to raise money for an educational trip to Paris, France and Barcelona, Spain. The stand will be open from Monday, June 27 through Monday, July 4th. The hours are 9am to 9pm (open until midnight on the 4th). Credit Cards are accepted. Let's help these students go on the trip of a lifetime!


Obituary - Homer Arther Winkley

Homer Arther Winkley, 66, passed away at his home in Nevada, MO on Saturday, June 18, 2016. 

He was born on November 3, 1949 in Falk, AR to Herman and Charlene (McKenzie) Winkley. He married Mary Linda Gardner and she survives of the home.

Homer was an over the road truck driver

Survivors in addition to his wife, Mary, include two sons, Nickolas Winkley of Nevada and Jessie Steed of Santillo, MS; grandson Derver Steed; and two sisters.

No services are planned at this time.


Motorcycle crash in Cass County injures one

On 6/23/16 around 11:45am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Harrisonvulle Police Department and Cass County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle motorcycle accident on Missouri 291 Highway at Waters Road just North of Harrisonvlle.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2014 Harley Davidson driven by 64 year old Alexander J. Hernandez of Independence,Missouri suddenly braked to avoid striking another vehicle causing the bike to overturn off the roadway.

Mr. Hernandez sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported to Cass Regional Medical Center by ambulance for treatment.

The Harley Davidson Motorcycle received moderate damage and was towed from the scene of the accident by Johnson's Tow.

Obituary - Janice D. Mainard

Janice Mainard 77 of Harrisonville, Missouri formerly of Garden City, Missouri departed this life Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville, Missouri surrounded by love and family.

Janice is survived by her husband Sidney Mainard of the home; two sons, Tim Mainard and his wife Francie of Harrisonville, Missouri, and Mark Mainard and his wife Candy of Raymore, Missouri; three daughters, Dolores Boney of Grandview, Missouri, Yvonne Beasley of Harrisonville, Missouri, and Jacqueline Laurila of Rogers, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and one on the way; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri

The family will receive friends Monday, June 27, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Update: Fire destroys Gas Station in Adrian

Around 11:26 pm last night the Adrian Fire Department along with mutual aide from the Butler Fire Department and Central Cass Fire Department responded to a structure fire at RC Gas Station located at MO-18 & McCulloh St, in Adrian.
 

The fire was contained to a certain area of the gas station and no pumps outside were in danger.
 

The building sustained heavy fire and smoke damage.
 

State Fire Marshall's were called in to investigate this fire and the cause of it was determined to be accidental in nature but cant rule out being electrical in nature.
 

The inside of the building was a total loss and no injuries were reported.
 

Fire crews remained on scene of this structure fire until 3:27am.
