Update: Amsterdam man injured after medical issue causes accident West of Adrian

Around 1:48pm this afternoon the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with the Adrian Fire Department and Bates County EMS responded to a one vehicle accident on Missouri 18 Highway just West of Adrian.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1996 Plymouth Voyager driven by Don B. Miller of Amsterdam, Missouri traveled off the left side of the roadway striking a fence and traveling through a field before striking another fence and coming to rest in the front porch of a residence.

Mr. Miller is believed to of had a unknown medical issue before the accident.

He did sustain moderate injuries in this accident and transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Adrian Tow.

One life flighted after Cass County motorcycle wreck

Around 2:10pm this afternoon the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County responded to a one vehicle motorcycle crash on Southbound Missouri 7 Highway just South of Thunder Road in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2014 Harley Davidson driven by 70 year old James K. Siewert of Belton, Missouri traveled off the left side of the roadway ejecting the driver.

Mr. Siewert sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was transported by Life Flight Eagle to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

The bike sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene by a private tow.

Clinton woman arrested on several felonies


On 6/24/16 around 11:30am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Christian County arrested 50 year old Melinda J. Onwiler of Clinton, Missouri.
  
She was arrested for 1.) Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance - Methamphetamine 2.) Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance - Hydrocodone 3.) Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance- Apralzalan 4.)Possession of 35 grams of Marijuana 5.) Unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.


Melinda J.Onwiler was booked into the Christian County Jail.


Obituary - Mark Sperry

Mark Sperry, age 53, of Tightwad, Missouri passed away at his home Saturday, June 25, 2016. Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 1, 2016 at Vansant-Mills Funeral Chapel, Clinton, Missouri. Family suggests memorial contributions to Crossroads Hospice and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Mark worked for the Conservation Department doing wildlife management for over 30 years. He was a rock hound, loved to hunt, and being on the family farm. He also loved his Harley and going on vacations to the mountains. Most of all he loved his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd Logan Sperry, Jr. and Betty Lee (Cook) Sperry, and his first wife Kimberly Sperry.

Survivors include his wife Tamara; sons, Matt Sperry(Amanda) and Floyd Sperry(Jordan), all of Tightwad; step-son Cody Garoutte, of Joplin; daughter Melissa Campbell(Craig) of Tightwad; grandchildren, Rylee Garoutte, Joplin, Emmalyn and Maci Sperry, Tightwad, and one on the way, Bentley Sperry, Tightwad; two brothers, Kevin Sperry of Clinton and Calvin Sperry of Illinois; one sister , Jody Keane of Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews and other family; and his dog, Harley Man.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home.


Medical Issue causes driver to lose control and strike a porch West of Adrian

The Adrian Fire Department along with Missouri State Highway Patrol and Bates County Sheriffs Office are on scene one vehicle accident on Missouri 18 Highway around 1 mile West of Adrian.

The accident is said to of occurred when a 51 year old male driver had a unknown medical issue ( Possible Seizure) causing him to travel off the roadway and strike a porch of a residence. 

Bates County EMS is on scene at this time and will be transporting the man to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Kershner's Celebrate 45 years of marriage

Harold Kershner and Shirley Cassody are celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary.  They were married June 25, 1971 and live in rural Bates County. The couple has one son Aaron Kershner of Butler.

Urich woman sustains moderate injuries in Cass County rollover accident

Around 8:14pm this evening the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Central Cass and Garden City Fire Department responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on Missouri 7 Highway just North of Kircher Road in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2006 Ford Escape driven by 41 year old Billie J. Crusha of Urich, Missouri attempted to avoid a slowing vehicle in the roadway, swerved and then overcorrected causing the vehicle to travel off the roadway and overturn.

Billie J. Crusha sustained moderate injuries in this accident and she was transported by Garden City EMS to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Johnson's

Butler man arrested on warrants

On Friday afternoon a Butler Police Officer observed a man that was known to have active warrants at Walmart in Butler.
 

The officer made contact with the man who was later identified as 28 year old Mathew Heavener‏ of Butler.

Mr. Heavener was arrested for two active warrants:

1.) Probation Violation - Platte County, Missouri ($500 Cash Only)

2.) Child Support - Cass County, Missouri ( 10K Cash Only)

He was placed into custody without incident and transported to the Bates County Jail.
