A little pie in your eye on the 4th of July?

Linda and Jerry Mumma
Rich Hill has become famous for a multitude of things... it was once a huge coal mining town but in more recent times people know Rich Hill for other reasons, such as their 4th of July celebrations with big name musical stars. And pies.

Pies? Yep. It wasn't so long ago a pie auction there made world headlines, literally. Jerry Mumma paid $3,300 for a strawberry-rhubarb pie baked by his granddaughter Jara Mumma. Read the full story here http://batescountynewswire.blogspot.com/2011/07/bidding-war-for-homemade-pie-soars-into.html

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the

The semi truck then overturned and came to rest on its right side.

Mr. Nourse sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton for treatment.

The truck received extensive damage and was towed from the scene by Golden Valley Tow.

We hate to dampen your enthusiasm, but...

A lot of people will be outside this weekend and we could be dealing with a potentially serious flooding situation. We're still waiting to see exactly where the heaviest rain will fall, but it's not out of the question that some areas could see 4 to 6 inches of rain out of this. Please keep a close eye on the weather this weekend, especially if you'll be out camping, driving or anything else that could put you in danger. - the National Weather Service
