On 7/4/16 around 10:40pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with the Bates County Sheriffs Office and Butler Police Department responded to a one vehicle rollover accident in the Northbound lanes of I-49 at Mile Marker 129.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2002 Oldsmobile driven by 36 year old Beth A. Hannon of Butler, Missouri experienced and equipment malfunction causing the vehicle to strike a bridge and over turn.
A passenger in the vehicle 38 year old Douglas A. Hannon of Council Bluff, Iowa sustained moderate injuries in this accident and he was transported by Bates County EMS to Bates County Memorial Hospital.
The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Douty's Tow of Butler, Missouri.

Obituary - Donna Jean Heckadon
Donna Jean Heckadon, 80, of Rich Hill passed away July 3, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 11:00a.m. at the Heuser Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Green Lawn Cemetery in Rich Hill.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Obituary - Janice Karen Eileen Yoos
Janice Karen Eileen Yoos,
age 75 of Bronaugh, MO She passed on to heaven on July 2, 2016 at Via
Christi hospital Pittsburg, Ks Karen was born on December 12, 1940 in
Boone, IA to Henry Hasstedt and Doris Wood Hasstedt. She was married to
Oscar Thrasher, then Fred Jones and later married John Yoos.
She was
employed all of her life as a certified nurse’s aide. She was employed
at Heritage nursing home in Girard Kansas from 1982 until her retirement
in 2006. Karen loved taking care of other people.
Karen was a member of
St. Paul Lutheran church Nevada, MO. She loved her cats, chickens and
gardening. Karen had 6 daughters-- Nancy Thrasher of Boone, IA; Marsha
McCorkle of Pittsburg, KS; Susan Scott of Ankeny, IA; Karen Jones-Finley
of Nixa, MO; Mary Brown of Pittsburg, KS; Kathy Woods of Girard, KS.
She also had 2 sons--Marvin Thrasher of Pittsburg, KS; David Thrasher of
Pittsburg, KS.
She had 2 sisters-- Margaret Joyce Davidson--deceased;
Eldon Garcia of Boone, IA Karen had 2 brothers-- William Hasstedt of
Boone, IA and Eldon Hasstedt of Navajo, CA Karen also had 31
grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. May she get the rest this
earthly life has deprived her of. Today her soul can finally have peace.
Appleton City man arrested in St. Clair County
On 7/4/16 around 2:00pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in St. Clair County arrested 33 year old Christopher M. Gurley of Appleton City, Missouri.Mr. Gurley was arrested for 1.) Speeding - Excess of 26 mph over the posted speed limit 2.) No Insurance 3.) No seatbelt.
He was booked into the St. Clair County Sheriffs Office and later released.

Breaking News Update: Amsterdam man killed after being struck by vehicle
Around 10:10pm last night the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with the Bates County Sheriffs Office, Bates County EMS and Amsterdam Fire Department responded to a pedestrian that was struck and killed on Route J around 1 miles East of Route Y in Amsterdam.The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2005 Volkswagon driven by 45 year old Tommy Clemons of Amoret, Missouri struck 89 year old Elva E. Holden of Amsterdam, Missouri as he was walking in the Eastbound lanes of Route J.
Mr. Holden was pronounced dead at 22:43pm by Bates County Corner Gary Schowengerdt.
Tommy Clemons wasn't injured in this accident and his vehicle sustained moderate damages.
This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol 34th Fatality of 2016.
