James Herman "Bud" Tiehen
James Herman "Bud" Tiehen, 76, of Linn Valley, Kansas died on July 4, 2016 at his home following a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. James was born June 19, 1940 in Sabetha, Kansas to George Herman and Eva (Boggess) Tiehen. He graduated from Salem High School, Salem, Nebraska with the class of 1959. On March 26, 1960 he married Mary Ellen Fouraker in Topeka, Kansas. James was an engineer, working for Southwestern Bell, Lucent, and as a contractor for the FAA. James and Mary lived in Lenexa for 28 years before moving to Linn Valley in 1999 where James became actively involved in the community. James never knew a stranger and greatly enjoyed visiting with those in the community and especially his coffee club friends. James could almost always be found outside where he enjoyed doing yard work, boating, or taking kids for hay rides around Linn Valley. James' greatest joys in life were spending time with his grandkids and his dog, Endo. James was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth Timberlake; and a special uncle and aunt who were like another set of parents, Merl and Maxine Boggess. In addition to his wife, Mary, of the home, James is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Dawn and Edward Wake, Olathe, KS, Deborah and Matt Smith, Ozark, MO, and Cynthia and Oliver Rokoff, Portland, OR; sister, Aminda Seagrave and husband Walter, and sister-in-law, Karen Timberlake all of Tucson, AZ; seven grandchildren, Josh, Erin, Justin, Lindsey, Jamie, Lyla, and Sylvie; four great-grandchildren, Kameron, Quinn, Jackson, and Roman; and an extra special cousin with whom he was raised, Carl "Pete" Larsen, Auburn, NE.
The funeral for James will be at 11:00 am on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Linn Valley Community Church. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, 9501 W. 159th Street, Overland Park, KS. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 7. The family suggests contributions to the donor's choice. Donations may be sent in care of Schneider Funeral Home, PO Box 304, La Cygne, KS 66040. Arrangements: Schneider Funeral Home, La Cygne Chapel.

Breaking News Update: Stolen vehicle from Butler found in Benton County

Around 9pm last night the Benton County Sheriffs Office found the 1970 green in color ford truck that was stolen yesterday 7/5/16 from the Butler Radio Station on East Nursery Street.

The vehicle was said to have been found along the side of the roadway and was still running when it was found.

In the event of severe weather threat the test will be cancelled.

Roy B. Schimmelpfenning, 76, of Harrisonville, Missouri died Monday, July 4, 2016 at Promise Longterm Acute Care Center in Overland Park, Kansas. Funeral services will be held 10:30am Friday, July 8, 2016 at the United Methodist Church, Harrisonville, Missouri. The family will receive friends Friday, 10:00-10:30am at the church. Burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.

Roy was born January 23, 1940 in Sabinal, TX, a son of Roy William and Helen (Clayton) Schimmelpfenning. Roy lived in Texas and Arkansas before moving to Kansas City, MO. He was a graduate of Northeast High School in Kansas City and had earned an Associate degree in accounting from Rockhurst College in Kansas City. Roy was united in marriage to Shirley Jean Howell, May 3, 1958 in Miami, OK, and they lived in Kansas City before moving to Harrisonville in 1980. Roy was an auditor for Freight Rate in Kansas City for 25 years and had also worked at the Argosy Casino in Kansas City, MO.

Roy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville, MO, and was an Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Schimmelpfenning, of the home, a son, Bing Schimmelpfenning, Harrisonville, a daughter, JeanAnn Corbett, and husband, Sean, Kansas City, MO, and a granddaughter, Shaimen Corbett.

To whoever took the 4th of July banners from downtown Rich Hill:

You may think it's funny, you may think you're cute, you may think you're sticking it to the 4th of July committee or the City of Rich Hill, but you should probably have thought about the price of banners that size before you decided to steal them off the fence. 

There has been a police report written, they will be found, and I have every intention of pressing charges to the fullest extent, because it is GRAND THEFT!
