Stolen: Olive green 2002 Honda Foreman Rubicon Fourtrax Model TRX500FA.

The ATV was Stolen last week from a family farm between Butler and Appleton City.

Priscilla M. Schuster
Priscilla M. Schuster, 92, of Nevada passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016. Priscilla was born on March 24, 1924 in East Bridgewater, MA to Albert W. Swan and Wilma J. (Mann) Swan.

Priscilla was raised in Massachusetts and graduated from Milton High School in 1942. Prior to graduation she had begun working for the John Hancock Insurance Company in Boston where she continued to work for several years.

In 1942 she met Gordon Schuster at the U.S.O. in Boston where she was a hostess and he was in the U.S. Navy. They were engaged in 1945 and married on September 28, 1946 in the Congregational Church in Milton, MA. In 1956 the family moved to Anaheim, CA where Gordon had taken a new job. They later moved to Yorba Linda, CA and then to Arizona in 1973 when Gordon became involved in the construction business. They continued to live in Arizona until 2002 when they came to Nevada, MO to be near their daughter Pam and husband Craig.

Priscilla was very active in the United Methodist Church especially while in Yorba Linda where she was the United Methodist Women President, was on the Church Council, and later served as the Wedding Hostess there. She was currently a member of the United Methodist Church in Nevada. Priscilla and Gordon enjoyed family camping trips and traveling. The most important things in her life were her family and her dedication to God. She dearly loved her whole family and was blessed with and very proud of them.

Survivors include one son, Robert Schuster and his wife Cheryl of Spokane, WA, one daughter, Pam Hayes and her husband Craig of, Nevada, daughter-in-law, Linda Schuster, Peoria, AZ, 10 grandchildren Jenny Schuster, Jeremy Schuster, Nathaneal Schuster, and Aletha Schuster, all of Arizona, Sarah Vickers and her husband, Derek, of Spokane, WA, Steven Smith and wife Samantha of Arizona, Debbie Nix and husband Matt, Ft. Smith, AR, Mary Wilson and husband Mark, Nevada, MO, C.J. Hayes and his wife Jill, Carl Junction, MO, and Andy Hayes and his wife Emily, Nevada, MO, 19 great-grandchildren, one sister Janette Swan of Milton, MA, and several nieces and nephews. Priscilla was preceded in death by her husband Gordon, one son Richard Schuster, and one sister, Alberta Sawyer.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 8, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Nevada with Rev Sharon Freeman officiating.


In lieu of flowers those who wish may contribute in Priscilla’s memory to the Nevada United Methodist Women in care of Ferry Funeral Home.


She will be laid to rest at a later date in the Arizona Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery with her beloved husband Gordon.

Harrisonville man injured after his vehicle strikes tree in Cass County

Around 6:40pm on 7/5/16 the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with the Cass County Sheriffs Office responded to a one vehicle accident on Missouri 291 Highway just North of 215th Street in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2007 Ford Van driven by 78 year old Vance R. Lee of Harrisonville, Missouri traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Mr. Lee sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported by Central Cass EMS to Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville for treatment.

The van was totaled and towed from the scene by Johnson's Tow.

Vernon County Sheriffs Office Sex Offender Notification

The Vernon County Sheriffs Office sent out a Nixle to make the public aware that registered sex offender Clayton Douglas Ledbetter (6/24/ 87) has moved from a residence located at  227 N Elm Street Nevada, Missouri to a new residence in Denver Colorado.

Mr. Ledbetter was convicted in Saline County, Kansas 03/15/05.

He was convicted of 1.) Criminal Sodomy male 12 years old  2.)Aggravated Criminal Sodomy male 12-13 years old 3.) Indecent Liberties with a 15 year old male.

Nevada man injured in Bates County crash

On 7/5/16 around 8:11pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County responded to a two vehicle accident in the Southbound lanes of I-49 at Mile Marker 119 South of Rich Hill.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1996 Dodge Ram driven by 60 year old Randall R. Brooks of Nevada Missouri was merging onto I-49 and was struck in the rear by a 2015 Dodge Ram driven by 20 year old Jacob D. Ward of Belton, Missouri.

Mr. Brooks sustained moderate injuries in this accident and he was transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital by ambulance.

Both vehicle received moderate damages but no tow was needed.

Updated Obituary - Elva "Ed" Edward Holden

Elva Edward Holden age 89 of Amsterdam, Missouri was struck and killed by a vehicle just East of Amsterdam on Sunday, July 3rd, 2016.

Mr. Holden was born on January 13th, 1927 and was a very humble a sweet man.

Funeral services for Mr. Holden will be Thursday July 7th, 2016, at Schneider Funeral Homes & Crematory, LaCygne, Kansas Chapel from 9:00am - 10:00am with burial to follow at Fort Scott National Cemetery located at 900 E. National Fort Scott, KS 66701.

Obituary - James Herman "Bud" Tiehen

James Herman "Bud" Tiehen
James Herman "Bud" Tiehen, 76, of Linn Valley, Kansas died on July 4, 2016 at his home following a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. James was born June 19, 1940 in Sabetha, Kansas to George Herman and Eva (Boggess) Tiehen. He graduated from Salem High School, Salem, Nebraska with the class of 1959. On March 26, 1960 he married Mary Ellen Fouraker in Topeka, Kansas. James was an engineer, working for Southwestern Bell, Lucent, and as a contractor for the FAA. James and Mary lived in Lenexa for 28 years before moving to Linn Valley in 1999 where James became actively involved in the community. James never knew a stranger and greatly enjoyed visiting with those in the community and especially his coffee club friends. James could almost always be found outside where he enjoyed doing yard work, boating, or taking kids for hay rides around Linn Valley. James' greatest joys in life were spending time with his grandkids and his dog, Endo. James was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth Timberlake; and a special uncle and aunt who were like another set of parents, Merl and Maxine Boggess. In addition to his wife, Mary, of the home, James is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Dawn and Edward Wake, Olathe, KS, Deborah and Matt Smith, Ozark, MO, and Cynthia and Oliver Rokoff, Portland, OR; sister, Aminda Seagrave and husband Walter, and sister-in-law, Karen Timberlake all of Tucson, AZ; seven grandchildren, Josh, Erin, Justin, Lindsey, Jamie, Lyla, and Sylvie; four great-grandchildren, Kameron, Quinn, Jackson, and Roman; and an extra special cousin with whom he was raised, Carl "Pete" Larsen, Auburn, NE.
The funeral for James will be at 11:00 am on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Linn Valley Community Church. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, 9501 W. 159th Street, Overland Park, KS. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 7. The family suggests contributions to the donor's choice.
