Bates County Memorial Hospital to open medical clinic in Rich Hill

From Ed Hannon, Bates County Memorial Hospital CEO

For more than a year, the Board of Directors, Administration and Medical Staff of Bates County Memorial Hospital have been discussing strategies to provide the residents of Bates County and the surrounding area greater opportunities to see Family Care Healthcare Providers without leaving the area.

When the hospital conducted the Community Health Needs Assessment in 2013, the southern part of the county was identified with some of the greatest needs. The hospital has been searching for a convenient location in that part of the county. One decision to be made was whether to build a new building or renovate an existing building.

The ideal location needed to be located in an area that would be convenient, safe, on level ground, visible, and large enough to support a 2,000 square foot office building with ample parking for patients and staff. The hospital considered buying a lot and building a new structure. Recently, the hospital learned that Koehn Building Systems was planning to move from their Rich Hill location to Butler. That building located in Rich Hill is the ideal location and size for a medical office. It is conveniently located adjacent to the grocery store and pharmacy in Rich Hill.

The hospital has purchased this property located at 225 N. 14th Street in Rich Hill. We will begin renovation this month with plans to open before year end. Additional details of the new medical clinic will be announced as the opening gets closer.
