Clinton woman injured in Cass County crash

Around 3:55pm this afternoon the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with the Harrisonville Police Department responded to a two vehicle accident in the Southbound Lanes of I-49 around Mile Marker 161.2 in Harrisonville.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2012 Chevrolet Impala driven by 58 year old Greg R. Price of Harrisonville, Missouri and 2013 Ford C-Max driven by 22 year old Katherine R. Fisher of Clinton, Missouri were both slowing in traffic when the vehicle driven by Mr. Price rear ended the vehicle of Katherine R. Fisher.

Katherine R. Fisher sustained minor injuries in this accident and she was transported by EMS to Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville, Missouri for treatment.

Both vehicle received moderate damages and both were towed from the scene by Miller Tow.

Obituary - Raymond Wallace Drake

Raymond Wallace Drake

Raymond Wallace Drake, 82, Nevada, MO passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, July 18, 2016 at his home in Nevada following a long illness. Raymond leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Carylon Sue Rutledge Drake. 

Raymond was employed by the Nevada Habilitation Center before retiring after 30 years of service. He also ran his own side business, Drakes Tree Services, until ill health forced him to close. His hobby was buying small engines and repairing them. 

He also loved spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife Sue, he is also survived by his children Robert Sharp, Hardy, AR, Angela Prine, Nevada and Donna Strack, Nevada; six grandchildren, Lee Prine, Shannon Lawrence, Jesse Luther, Correy Sharp, Brandon Sharp, and Colby Jones; six great-grandchildren, Cade Luther, Emily Lawrence, Aubrey Prine, Jayden Luther, Colton Lawrence, Ella Grace Sharp; several nieces and nephews; one sister, Earlene Randall. Preceded in death by his parents James Drake and Bertha Sewell, three sisters, Martha, Barbara, and D.A, three brothers, James, Sherwood, and Robert Drake, one grandchild, Micheal, Lawrence. There will be a private graveside service for the immediate family at Omar Cemetery at a later date.

House fire in Nevada

On 7/18/16 around 12:37pm the Nevada Fire Department responded to a house located at 205 North West Street in Nevada.

When fire crews arrived on scene they found a single story wood frame structure with fire in the south west corner. 

The fire was confined to a utility room, with heavy smoke damage throughout the structure. 

One person was home at the time of the fire and was able to escape with no injuries.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and crews remained on scene 1 hour and 45minutes.

Memorial services for Lydia Lynn will be 3 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2016 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. No visitation.

Lydia Marie Lynn, age 73 of Butler, Missouri died Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler. 

She was born October 25, 1942 to Thomas Charles and Minnie Markium Jensen in Peculiar, Missouri.

Lydia is survived by one son, Jerry Lee Lynn of Butler, Missouri; one daughter, Bonnie Sue Lynn of Butler, Missouri; one stepson, Larry Lynn; five grandchildren, Donnie Ray Parker II, Jeremy Shawn Parker, Richard Charles Parker, Tabatha Marie Roberts and Tiffany Jane Pinaire; 12 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; and six sisters, Bonnie Miller, Janie Jennings, Frances Lawrence, Wilma Hoffman, Bessie Hartshorn and Claudine Fritz. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Roberty Lynn; and two brothers, T.C. Jensen and Clifford Jensen.

Resurfacing of Missouri Route 52 Between Appleton City and Deepwater Scheduled to Start Week of August 1st

Bates, St. Clair & Henry Counties – Drivers can expect one-lane traffic and occasional traffic delays when a project to resurface and add two-foot shoulders to a 25-mile stretch of Missouri Route 52 begins the week of August 1, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Contractor crews will resurface Route 52 between Bates County Route BB west of Appleton City and Missouri Route 13 near Deepwater.

Drivers can expect flaggers on the road directing them through the work zone. Crews also will use pilot cars to guide drivers through work zone. Drivers should wait for the pilot vehicle before proceeding through the work zone or entering the work zone from a side road.

All lanes of traffic will be open during nighttime hours. Signs and message boards will alert drivers to the work zone.

Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.

Bates County is under a heat advisory that will extend until 10 am Friday. 

The combination of very warm temperatures and high humidity could lead to heat related illnesses. 

 Please take extra precautions if you must be outside this week.

Obituary - David Doland Davis

David Doland Davis, 74, died July 16, 2016, at Joe Clark's Assisted Living, Nevada, MO. He was born January 17, 1942, in Harper, KS, to Donivan and Isabel (Walter) Davis. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and a great-grandfather who loved traveling to see his family whenever he could. 

David loved to fish at Table Rock Lake with his Dad and kids. He took long drives through the back roads and loved the rolling hills, the green fields and trees. 

He married Joyce A. Rexroat on December 9, 1959 in Pratt, KS. They divorced one year later. He then married Mianna C. Kaiser on April 3, 1961, in Clayton, New Mexico. They divorced after 17 years.

Survivors include: his former spouse Mianna Forrester; his daughter Rebecca and husband Ed, Sahuarita, AZ; sons, Douglas and wife Renee Davis, Gaithersburg, MD; Allen and wife Connie Davis, Hooker, Ok; daughters, Barbara and husband Earl Mallard, Guymon, OK; Melissa and husband Kevin Hook, Guymon,OK; Jolene (primary caregiver) and husband Shannon Stone, Nevada,MO. 


He had seventeen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren with one more that is due this year; and five step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Donna, brother Clinton, sister-in-law Shirley, and step-mother Joan.
