New Business Now Open in Butler ” Infidel Ink”

Bates County would like to recognize and welcome a new business to the City of Butler.

” Infidel Ink”, open their doors on June 4th at 112 west Dakota Street in Butler. 

Owner Rob Shull is a 1998 graduate of Appleton City .He and his family, reside in Butler.

After serving our country for 9 years, Rob , now an army veteran , started his career as a Tattoo Artist in 2009 . Infidel Ink is now open, and you are invited to stop by and meet his crew .

 Herman F. Mager
Herman F. Mager, 84 of Butler, Missouri passed away July 22, 2016 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the Mullinax Funeral Home (660-679-0009) in Butler. 

Visitation will be prior to services from 9-10 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow services in the Benjamin Cemetery near Amoret, Missouri. 
 
Contributions are suggested to the Benjamin Cemetery, and may be left in care of the funeral home. Messages of condolence for the family may be left at www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com.

Herman Franklin Mager was born August 20, 1931 in Mulberry, Mo., son of Fred William and Marie (Spawn) Mager.

Herman attended Mulberry Grade School and graduated from Amoret High School. He married his one and only love, Zella Fritts Mager in October of 1951, celebrating over 62 years of marriage. Herman was a machinist in the aerospace industry working at Westinghouse, Bendix, and Allied Signal. 


He was a member of the Bates County Elks Lodge. He loved to dance including square dancing, round dancing, and the ‘two-step.’ He loved to hunt deer and turkey. 

In addition to his parents, Herman was preceded in death by his wife Zella in 2014; his sister Della Luckan; and one daughter, Julie Taylor.

He is survived by his sister, Emma Meade and husband Bill; son Dennis Mager and wife Karen of Maryland; son Doug Mager and wife Nancy of Butler; son-in-law Stan Taylor of Texas, as well as nine grandchildren: Bryan (Karen) Mager, Michelle (Kip) Copeland, Brent (Anne) Mager, Andrea (Sean) Fitzgerald, Kevin (Heather) Mager, Ashley (Bret) Keighley, Mallory Mager, Sam Mager, Jacob Mager; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Arkansas man arrested in Bates County

On 7/24/16 around 2:23am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 23 year old Patrick J. Necessary of Fayettevulle, Arkansas.

Mr. Necessary was arrested for 1.) Driving While Intoxicated 2.) Driving While Suspended.

He was booked into the Bates County Jail and placed on a 12 hour detox hold.

Kenneth E. Hunt, 89 of Belton, Missouri passed away July 23, 2016 at Belton Regional Medical Center in Belton.

Rich Hill man seriously injured after early morning motorcycle wreck in Bates County

Around 2:15am this morning the Missouri State Highway Patrol along with the Butler Police Department responded to a one vehicle motorcycle accident on Business I-49 and I-49 on the Southside of Butler.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2015 Harley Davidson Motorcycle driven by 40 year old Jerry L. Mclay of Rich Hill, Missouri ( Formerly of Butler) failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and struck a post before overturning and ejecting the rider.

Mr. Mclay sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was life flighted to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

The bike was totaled and towed from the scene by Douty's Tow of Butler, Missouri.

Obituary - Ruth McManis

Ruth McManis 93 of Garden City, Missouri departed this life on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri surrounded by love and family.

Final arrangements entrusted to Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri.

Service time and a complete obituary will be posted when that information becomes available.

Local police assist in Cedar County Search Warrant

On 07/20/2016 around 09:30 hours the Cedar County Sheriff's Office, C.N.E.T. Drug Task Force served a search warrant in Cedar County. 

The search warrant was executed with the assistance of the Vernon County, and Bates County Sheriff's Office.
 

During the search warrant we found controlled substances and stolen vehicles, and property were located and seized.

Five people were arrested on investigative holds until formal charges could be filed.
