Wild police chase involving wanted fugitive in Nevada

On Monday, July 25, 2016 an officer with the Nevada Police Department was dispatched to the 300 block of north Washington in regards to a wanted fugitive being seen. Upon the officers arrival the subject was gone.

The officer continued his routine patrol and went to the 300 block of north Center St. During his patrol efforts in this area the officer passed a vehicle and observed the wanted fugitive inside of it. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver failed to yield to the officer. The driver of the vehicle started to drive through yards, damaging fences and other property in the area. The subjects abandoned the vehicle and took off on foot in an unknown direction.

On July 26, 2016 Nevada Police were contacted by two fugitive recovery agents who had information on the whereabouts of the fugitive. Nevada Police responded to the 1000 block of east Wooter St. where the task force agents believed the subject was hiding.

The suspect attempted to flee out of a window upon law enforcement arrival, but was unsuccessful. The subject then hid in the attic of the house. Task force agents were able to apprehend the suspect. Nevada Police took custody of him and transported him to the Vernon County Jail for holding.

The suspect has been identified as 36 year old Nevada resident, Shawn M Foulk. He is being held in the Vernon County Jail on multiple warrants with no bond. Multiple other new charges are being submitted to the Vernon County Prosecutor’s Office in connection to the previous day’s event.

Early morning house fire in Butler

On Wednesday, July 27th at approximately 1:41 A.M., the Butler Fire Department, with automatic mutual aid from Adrian Fire Department, responded to a report of a structure fire at 810 N. Water St. in Butler.

On arrival, heavy fire was found in two rooms of a 1 1/2 story, wood frame residential structure. The occupant of the residence, who was home at the time of the fire, had escaped the residence upon arrival.

The fire was controlled with heavy fire damage to the room of origin, with heavy smoke and heat damage to the remainder of the structure. Most of the contents were damaged.

Due to the construction of the residence, the fire required extensive overhaul to put out several pockets of fire. The last units left the scene at 5:03 A.M. A unit from Bates County EMS was on standby at the scene.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental in nature, with the investigation continuing. There were no injuries.

The Bartlett Family Fund has been set up at Community First Bank in Butler to help the family of this morning's house fire in North Butler. 

We are currently working on getting clothes and shoes sizes and hope to have them updated soon.

Four from Amoret including two children escape serious injury in Cass County rollover accident

Around 7:05pm this evening the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on Route O just South of 299th Street in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2000 Chevrolet driven by 56 year old Judith I. Wisdom of Amoret, Missouri experienced a vehicle equipment malfunction causing the vehicle to travel off the right side of the roadway striking a tree line and overturning.

Judith I. Wisdom as well as the passenger in her vehicle 46 year old David L. Hagaman also of Amoret, Missouri both sustained moderate injuries in this accident and both were transported by Harrisonville EMS to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

Two children in the vehicle 3 year old Angel F. Antley and 1 year old Luke W. Antley both of Amoret, Missouri wasn't injured in this accident but both were transported by Harrisonville EMS to Children's Mercy Hospital in Overland Park, Kansas for safety precaution.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Johnson's Tow.
