LEES SUMMIT – MoDOT’s Kansas City District Office will host a recruiting event in an effort to hire at least 60 new Full-Time Highway Maintenance Workers.
The event will be held at Morning Star’s Youth & Family Outreach and Career Center, 2525 East 27th St. Kansas City, Missouri from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2016.
Benefits include: Medical, Annual Leave, Sick Leave and Paid Holidays. Starting salary: $14.25 per hour.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma/GED and a valid driver’s license. Applicants must also successfully complete a criminal background check, drug screening and the written portion of the CDL.

There is a new business in Butler, located on the South East corner of the Butler Square at One West Dakota Street.
The name of the business is Bringin Country Home owned by Misty and Eddy Peek. This new store will have a variety of hand crafted rustic wood pieces. And feature a variety of Montana West products such as Crosses, purses and wallets.
Bringin Country Home will open its doors on August 12th with special opening day hours of 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Commerce for a small town is always a good thing.

Robert Dean Beard, age 83 of Adrian, Missouri died Thursday, July 28, 2016 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born July 16, 1933 to Rue Ellis and Alice Lee Davis Beard in Bates County, Missouri.
Bob is survived by his wife, Jeanette Beard of Adrian, Missouri; three sons, Robby Dee Beard and wife Sylvie of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Marty Wayne Beard of Adrian, Missouri and Kiley Ray Beard of Kearney, Missouri; one sister, Judy Kennedy of Overland Park, Kansas; and one granddaughter, Stacey Lynn Beard. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Ruetta VanSlyke.
