Obituary - Billy Ralph Brown

Billy Ralph Brown, 92, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Friday, July 29, 2016 at Meadow View of Harrisonville. Private family memorial services will be held at a later date.

Billy was born February 10, 1924 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, the son of Earl and Gladys (Arnold) Brown. He worked as a carpenter and was a WWII U.S. Army veteran. He married Grace Moreland on September 29, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri.


Billy was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Terry Brown, four brothers, Jack, Jim, Leonard, and Paul, one sister, Imogene, and his wife, Grace. He is survived by one son, John Brown and wife, Angelea, Garden City, Missouri; three daughters, Pat Demoret and husband, Kelly, Creighton, Missouri, Becky Cruse and husband, Earl, Archie, Missouri, and Pam Snell and husband, Rick, Latour, Missouri; one sister, Ruth Hoke and husband Jack, Sun City, Arizona; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Belton woman arrested in Polk County held on no bond

On 7/29/16 around 12:01am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Polk County arrested 28 year old Angela G. Mitchell of Belton, Missouri.

She was arrested for 1.) Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance - Methamphetamine 2.) Unlawful Use of Drug Paraphernalia 3.) Felony Probation and Parole Warrant out of Missouri 4.) Three Misdemeanor Belton Police Department warrants for traffic violations.

Angela G. Mitchell was booked into the Polk County Jail and placed on no bond.

Obituary - Robert Henry Short

Robert Henry Short
Robert Henry Short, age 86, Linn Valley, Kansas passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the Olathe Medical Center. He was born in Kansas City, Kansas on March 27, 1930 the son of Harry Howard and Mary Cecelia Callahan Short. 

He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force. After serving in the Air Force Robert worked at Cook Paint. 

He married Barbara Allison on June 24, 1977. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4347. 

Robert moved to Linn Valley in 1993 where he made a host of new friends, enjoyed playing golf with his son, and working in the garden and yard. He was most happy spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers: Gaylord, Harold and Kenneth. He is survived by his wife Barbara, two sons, Kevin and Tim Short, a daughter, Laura Moss, a sister Mary Lou Weber, four grand and three great grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and papa. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral service will be held 10 am Monday, August 1, 2016 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Burial will be 2 pm Monday, at the White Chapel Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 pm Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Schneider La Cygne Chapel.

Arrest warrant issued for Rockville man

On July 28, a St. Clair County Sheriffs Office warrant was issued for Trent Lewis, 22, Rockville, Missouri charging him with class A misdemeanor theft his bond is set at $2,500 cash or surety.

The charge stems from a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office investigation on July 11 when Lewis, an employee of Casey's General Store, made a safe drop with no money attached to it. 


Video surveillance showed Lewis make a drop and then place the ticket and money on the drawer. 

Mr. Lewis then covered up the money on the drawer with his cell phone and a few minutes later he picked up his cell phone along with the money and put it into his pocket. His drawer was short $150 for the shift.

Lowry City man arrested and placed on no bond

On July 28, Kayne Gonzales, 20, Lowry City, was arrested on a no bond St. Clair County warrant for a probation violation in several cases. Gonzales is currently on probation for class B felony assault-first degree from a Lowry City Police Department investigation in August 2014.

He is also on probation for class C felony domestic assault-second degree and a misdemeanor charge of property damage-second degree. 

The charges stem from an incident on Nov. 24, 2014, when St. Clair County deputies were dispatched to a domestic assault on NE 700 Road, Lowry City.

Mr. Gonzales allegedly punched an individual in the face after kicking the door in and entering the residence without permission.

Theft at Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City

On July 27th, a St. Clair County Sheriffs Deputy took a stealing report at Ellett Memorial Hospital, Appleton City. 

An employee, Bruce Goddard, reported a Samsung Galaxy Tab-4, 10.1 with black case stolen from a desk he had been sitting at. The tablet was estimated at $500. 

A suspect was named and the case was forwarded to the Appleton City Police Department for investigation.

Those who make the grade will receive county assignments and become the face of conservation in their assigned communities – enforcing the Wildlife Code of Missouri and helping the public with issues such as nuisance wildlife and land management.
