The City of
Nevada Police Department is now accepting applications for the position
of Police Officer. The starting wage for this position is $31,342 per
year. It is a full time position, and includes full benefits such as
retirement, health, dental, vision and life insurance as well as paid
holidays, vacation and sick leave. The Police Department also
participates in a take-home vehicle program for its officers.
Eligible applicants must have a high school diploma or the equivalent, a
valid Missouri driver’s license, should be at least 21 years of age,
P.O.S.T certified by the State of Missouri, and successfully pass a
background investigation.
This position requires residency within the boundaries of Vernon County, MO.

Ronald Eugene Gilliland, 67, of Poplar Bluff, formerly of Nevada, passed away Monday, August 8, 2016 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
A private service for Ronald Gilliland is to be scheduled in Nevada at a later date.

On 8/11/16 the Clinton Police Department arrested Adam A. Abney of Clinton, Missouri (Formerly of Butler).
Mr. Abney was arrested for 1.) Driving While Suspended and Revoked.
He was booked into the Henry County Jail and later was released.

Jerry Little age 64 years, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016 at his
home in Clinton, Missouri. A memorial service will be held 10:30am
Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton,
Missouri. No visitation. Fond memories and condolences can be left

Jerry was born
February 27, 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri the son Darrel and Ramha
(Oden) Little. He was a graduate of Clinton High School. After school he
went to work for Rival until it closed. Then he worked for Schreiber
for a short while. He retired from Lincoln Industrial after 10 years of
service there. Jerry loved motor racing, fishing, and gold prospecting.
He
is survived by his loving partner of over 30 years, Donna Baumgarden, a
brother, Larry Little, 5 children; Jeremiah Little, Charity Gardener,
Jennifer Baumgarden, Coty Little, and Hally Little, as well as several
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.
Bettye L. Conrad, 87, Adrian, Missouri, died Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Adrian Manor in Adrian, Missouri. Services are pending at this time.
Bettye was born May 2, 1929 in Peculiar, Missouri, the daughter of Earl Marshall and Estella Ota (Sittler) Conrad. She was a 1948 graduate of Peculiar High School and was a journalism major, attending college for two years. Bettye retired from Dolgins Jewelers in Kansas City, Missouri as a bookkeeper. She was a sports fanatic, and enjoyed watching football, baseball and basketball.
