One vehicle rollover accident just South of Butler

The Missouri State Highway Patrol along with the Butler Fire Department, Butler Police Department and Bates County Sheriffs Office are on scene of a one vehicle rollover accident on South Main Street and County Road 1003 just South of Butler.

Please use caution if you must travel in this area as several first reponders are on scene. No one is injured in this accident.

Updated Obitaury - Janet Morrisey

 Janet Morrisey
Janet Morrisey, age 61, Pleasanton, Kansas passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at her home. She was born on August 21, 1954 at Pleasanton the daughter of Harley Perry and Helen May Kramer Johnson. She attended school in Pleasanton and graduated from Pleasanton High School. She married William "Bill" Morrisey on December 6, 1975. 

He preceded her in death on April 20, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Janet cleaned houses and was a true homemaker. 

She enjoyed gardening. The most important thing in Janet''s life was her family. She and Bill attended all of Eddy and Joey''s activities and supported them unconditionally. She is survived by her two sons, Edward "Eddy" Morrisey and William Joseph "Joey" Morrisey, a brother, Larry Johnson, two sisters, Judy Patterson and Dorothy Stuart and mother-in-law, Bernadine Braet Morrisey.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Inurnment will be at the Eureka Cemetery. The family requests contributions to the Janet Morrisey Memorial, use of which will be determined at a later time, c/o Schneider Funeral Home, Box 525, Pleasanton, Kansas 66075. Theft in rural Adrian

On August 13, 2016 a Bates County Sheriff's Deputy responded to County Road 15002 in Adrian, MO in reference to a theft that had previously occurred. 

The victim stated that there were four planter boxes off his planter had been stolen from his barn. 

The planter boxes are white in color with black lids. They are valued at approximately $2000.00. The victim located a glove that did not belong to him and could possibly have been dropped by the thieves.

Obituary - Roy Eugene Ousterhout

Roy Eugene Ousterhout, 65, Butler, Missouri died Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Medical Lodge in Butler, Missouri. 

Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday August 18, 2016 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri. 

Burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, Missouri. The family will receive friends Thursday, 10:00am until 11:00am at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville.

Freeman man arrested in Cass County

Richard D. Stukes
On 8/14/16 around 7:39pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County arrested 51 year old Richard D. Stukes of Freeman, Missouri.

Mr. Stukes was arrested for 1.) Felony Driving While Intoxicated - Persistent Offender 2.) Felony Driving While Suspended/ Revoked 3.) No Seatbelt 4.) No Ignition Interlock System When Required.

He was booked into to the Cass County Jail and placed on a 24 hour hold.

From the Butler Elementary PTSO

As teachers head back today and students will follow on Thursday we know that most may feel like this picture😂 PTSO hopes all staff and students have a great year ahead....GO BEARS!!!

Back To School Night for 1st-3rd is 6-7 tomorrow night Aug 16th and 4th-6th is 7-8. First Day of school is Thursday Aug 18th with release at 1:45.

PTSO packets include membership forms that need returned as as soon as possible and tshirt order forms that we need turned in by Sept. 14th. Any questions you contact Ross Alisia Dugan or leave questions on here and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Obituary - Michael James Cleveland

Michael James Cleveland
Michael James Cleveland of Nevada, Missouri completed his journey to the Lord on August 12, 2016. Mike was born on April 22, 1944 to James William and Helen (Tyler) Cleveland. His 72 years were a life filled with the joys of love, laughter, and a “Never Say Never” attitude. For the past 55 years Mike was married to the love of his life, Helen Ann Cleveland. Together they had two lovely daughters, Christine Kunzweiler, DVM of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Nichole Jacobs of Portland, Oregon.

Mike graduated from Nevada High School in 1962, received a bachelor’s degree from Pittsburgh State University in 1966 in Business Administration, and earned his MBA in 1985 from Fontbonne College. Mike enjoyed successful career in management in the trucking industry. He was active in the Catholic Church and was recognized as the Knight of the Year for the Muskogee, Oklahoma Chapter of the Knights of Columbus.

Mike was particularly proud of his grandchildren: Sandra, Jenny, and Jaqueline Kunzweiler, and Jessica Frederick. Each of these granddaughters has grown into young women who share Mike’s wit, laughter, and zest for life. While they will miss him greatly, a piece of his wisdom and undying love will remain a part of each of their hearts.

In addition to his wife, daughters, and granddaughters, Mike is survived by two sons in law: Steve Kunzweiler and Brian Jacobs and his brother-in-law Ed Streich. Mike’s mother, Helen Dahmer survives him long with his brother and sisters: Tom, Jan, Julie, Kathy, and Judy, and his aunts and uncles, Donald, Dorothy, Mary, and Martha.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nevada with Father Matthew Benjamin officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. on Monday evening at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the American Diabetes Foundation in care of the funeral home.

Doris Allen of Drexel, Missouri passed away August 14, 2016 at the Olathe Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas.
