Obituary - Frederick Donald (Don) Morton

Frederick Donald (Don) Morton
Frederick Donald (Don) Morton passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 in Clinton, Missouri. Don's wishes were to be cremated. Private family services will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Twin Lakes Hospice and may be left in care of the funeral home. Don was born (November 8, 1931) and raised in Groton, Massachusetts. After high school, Don entered the United States Air Force and served his country from 1952 to 1956. He was also in the Air Force Reserve from 1956-1960. After his discharge from the military he moved to Florida. He was the father of three girls: Terry Morton Tomasek (Elon, North Carolina), Lisa Morton Lee (Clinton, Missouri), and Jill Morton Ballard (Clinton, Missouri). Don owned a successful automobile painting company in Lake Worth, Florida (B & D Paint Company).

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Morton and his parents, Walter and Agnes Morton as well as brother, Finnamore Morton and sister Florence Martin.

He is survived by his brother David Morton of Groton, Massachusetts and his three daughters and their families as well as many nieces and nephews. A special note of gratitude and deepest appreciation is extended to the exceptional staff at the Arbors of Glendale Gardens.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, Missouri.

Gerrick Rhett Wheeldon, 24, Butler, Missouri died Saturday, August 20, 2016 in Harrisonville, Missouri from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Wheeldon; a son, Oliver Wheeldon; a daughter, Chicory Wheeldon and a child on the way all of the home; his father, Darryl Richard Wheeldon, Pleasant Hill, Missouri; his mother and step-father, Jacque and Stephen Litle, Adrian, Missouri; 3 brothers, Darren Ray Wheeldon II, Salt Lake City, Utah, Darryl Richard Wheeldon II, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Timothy Litle, Adrian, Missouri; three sisters, Rebekah Lynne Perkins, Rich Hill, Missouri, Gabrielle Golden, Lee's Summit, Missouri, Elizabeth Litle, Adrian, Missouri; paternal grandparents, George Richard and Mary Jane Wheeldon, Archie, Missouri; maternal grandparents, Kenneth Bryant, Collinsville, Illinois, Judith Bicknell, Columbus, Kansas; step-grandparents, John and Blanche Litle, Harrisonville, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Thursday, August 25, 2016 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Strasburg Cemetery, Strasburg, Missouri.

Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Thursday, August 25, 2016 at the funeral home.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Mary Wheeldon and the kids.

Two from Blairstown killed in Johnson County Crash, 8 year old child among dead

On 8/22/16 around 7:30am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Johnson County along with Johnson County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a two vehicle fatality accident on Missouri 50 Highway and Route Z in the Kingsville area of in rural Johnson County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the Unknown 1990 make and model vehicle driven by 47 year old Alicia A. McGinnis of Blairstown, Missouri pulled into the path of the 2007 Jeep driven by 20 year old Chelsea R. Garton of Kansas City, Missouri.

Alicia A. McGinnis as well as a passenger in her vehicle 8 year old Kacee R. McGinnis were both killed in this accident and both were transported to Sweeney - Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Chelsea R. Garton as well as a passenger in her vehicle 20 year old Meredith Hampton of Lenexa, Kansas both sustained minor injuries in this accident and both were transported to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

The vehicle's both were totaled and towed from the scene by Ron's Tow.

This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 44th Fatality Accident of 2016.

Arrest warrant served in Henry County

Aaron J. Abney
On 8/16/16 around 8;29pm the Henry County Sheriffs Office booked in 21 year old Aaron J. Abney of Clinton, Missouri formerly of Butler, Missouri.

Mr. Abney was arrested  for two outstanding warrants that were issued on 7/11/16.

The warrants were for 1.) Possession of a Controlled Substance 2.) Probation Violation.

He was booked into the Henry County Jail and placed on $25,000 cash/surety bond.

Three Missouri John Deere Dealerships Burglarized Within Hours Of Each Other

Three local John Deere dealerships were burglarized within just hours of each other in the early morning hours of Monday, August 8th. 

Joplin’s Legacy Farm and Lawn Store Manager Joey Wyatt tells News Talk KZRG what was taken from each of the stores. 

“We had a trailer stolen at our Nevada location. Shortly after, about 5:30 a.m, there was a John Deere utility vehicle stolen- an 825 Gator. About 45 minutes after that, there was John Deere 997 zero-turn mower stolen at our Joplin location.

Police searching for stolen truck from Butler

The Butler Police Department is attempting to locate a stolen gold in color 4 door 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 truck with a white tool box and a Proud to be Union Sticker that was stolen around 30 minutes ago from a residence located at 803 North Street in Butler.

The license plates on the vehicle is a Missouri tag of 2YV - 814.

Clinton man arrested on 2nd Degree Domestic Violence

On Sunday 8/21/16  the Clinton Police Department arrested 62 year old Rodger E. Butts of Clinton, Missouri.

Mr. Butts was arrested for 1.) 2nd Degree Domestic Assault  - Persistent Domestic Violence Offender 2.) Clinton Police Department Warrant - 2nd Degree Domestic Violence.

He was booked into the Henry County Jail and placed on $20,000 Cash/Surety bond.
