Storm chances possible for the next three days

The active pattern continues through the rest of the week and into the weekend. Off and on thunderstorms will be possible through most of the morning. 

Another round of strong thunderstorms will be possible later this evening. 

Heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds will be the primary concerns. More rain is expected through Sunday, with perhaps 1 to 3 inches of rain possible.

Hit and run accident sends one to hospital Vernon County

Around 10:15pm last night the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County responded to a two vehicle accident were one vehicle fled the scene.

The location of this accident was on 1625 Road around 6 miles South of Nevada in rural Vernon County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when a unknown year Dodge Ram 3500 struck the rear of the 2000 Chevrolet Impala driven by 20 year old Kesein C. McNeese of Nevada, Missouri then fled the scene of the accident.

A passenger in Kesien C. McNeese's vehicle 25 year old Whitney E. Collins of Nevada, Missouri sustained minor injuries in this accident and she was transported by ambulance to Nevada Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northern Bates County until 9:30pm

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, Missouri has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for a Northern Bates County until 9:30pm. 

Reports with this storm include 90mph winds possible and quarter size hail. 

There has been multiple reports of 80mph with this storm in eastern Kansas.

Sharon Lorene Mullies, age 67 of Independence, Missouri died Sunday, August 21, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Blue Springs, Missouri. She was born March 14, 1949 to Fred and Mable Lord Sollis in Butler, Missouri.


Sharon is survived by her husband Douglas Mullies of Independence, Missouri; one son, Kevin Carpenter and fiance` Roxie Jones of Independence, Missouri; one daughter, Kelli McMullin and husband Mike of Independence, Missouri; one sister, Louise Ford of Trimble, Missouri; and seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Patricia; two brothers, Bob and Bill; and one sister, Karen.

Wilma Jean “Jeanie” Bledsoe, age 86 of Butler, Missouri died Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler. She was born August 24, 1929 to Albert and Lena Marie Ramsey Fleischer in Pappinsville, Missouri.

Jeanie is survived by four sons, Larry Bledsoe and wife Martha of Nevada, Missouri, Terry Bledsoe and wife Tammy of Butler, Missouri, Buster Bledsoe of Harrisonville, Missouri and Gary Bledsoe and wife Courtney of Caulfield, Missouri; three daughters, Donna Foster and husband Leroy of Butler, Missouri, Joyce Hood and husband Jerry of Clinton, Missouri and Janet Brown and husband Jimmy of Clinton, Missouri; one brother, Howard Fleischer and wife Gracia of Butler, Missouri; and 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Charlie Bledsoe in November of 2012; and two sisters, Nadine Price and Gayla Link.

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill Missouri has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch effective until 11:00pm for Bates and Surrounding Counties.
