And down comes the rest...

Clean up continues on the southeast corner of the Butler square to remove the remnants of a building collapse that happened in August of last year. Here, crews take down the second building that was deemed unsafe as well. Work is expected to be complete later this month.

Anyone feel the ground shake?

If you woke up shaking, rattling, and rolling, you are not crazy!

A 5.6 earthquake occurred in Pawnee, OK and 7:02am and was felt all across eastern Kansas all the way to through parts of Missouri.

Several people felt this in Bates and surrounding Counties. So far, no damage reported across the area.

Mid America Live News will update this when more information is made available to us.

Southern Missouri Man Sentenced For Child Porn

Tammy Dickinson, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Carthage, Mo., man was sentenced in federal court today for receiving and distributing child pornography over the Internet.

Jerry Batchelor, 52, of Carthage, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge M. Douglas Harpool to 10 years in federal prison without parole. The court also sentenced Batchelor to supervised release for the rest of his life following incarceration.

On Jan. 11, 2016, Batchelor pleaded guilty to receiving and distributing child pornography over the Internet. Batchelor utilized a peer-to-peer file-sharing network to obtain and trade images and videos of child pornography between Aug. 10, 2012, and April 4, 2014.

A search warrant was executed at Batchelor’s residence on April 7, 2014, and a desktop computer was seized along with three portable hard drives, a thumb drive and an SD card. Images and videos of child pornography included prepubescent minors and sado-masochistic images. Investigators also found videos taken by Batchelor, who secretly videotaped adults in the bathroom.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney James J. Kelleher. It was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Southwest Missouri Cybercrimes Task Force.

El Dorado Springs Couple Claim $25,000 Year for Life Prize

Robert and Kathryn Foley
An El Dorado Springs couple is now “lucky for life” after claiming a $25,000 a year for life second-tier prize in the Missouri Lottery Draw Game.

Robert, 53, and Kathryn, 60, Foley claimed their prize at the Lottery’s Springfield regional office on Aug. 26 after using Quick Pick to correctly match five numbers in the Aug. 18 drawing, which were: 1, 2, 14, 19 and 48.

While claiming their prize, Robert disclosed that he has been playing Lucky for Life® since it was first introduced in Missouri in January 2015, and that he typically makes all of his Missouri Lottery purchases from S &B Liquors, 3320 E. Highway 54 in El Dorado Springs, which received a $250 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The couple, who found out they had won their prize by checking their numbers at MOLottery.com, decided to take the $390,000 cash option over the annuity: a guaranteed minimum $25,000 a year for 20 years. With their prize, the couple is looking forward to paying off bills and  padding their savings account.

Lucky for Life is a $2 per play multi-state Draw Game that features 10 ways to win. The Foleys are the fourth Missouri Lottery Lucky for Life players to win a $25,000 a year for life second-tier prize since the Draw Game was introduced.

Lucky for Life drawings are held on Mondays and Thursdays at 9:38 p.m.
