Betty's wishes were to be cremated. A celebration of life will be held from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler. Contributions to American Diabetes Association or American Lung Association.

Betty Sue Allen, age 62 of Amoret, Missouri died Sunday, September 4, 2016 at University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas. She was born April 1, 1954 to Jack and Opal Allen Ethridge in Meridian, Texas.

Betty is survived by her son, Michael Steward and wife Rhonda of Butler, Missouri; two daughters, Lisa Bennett and husband Clinton of Amoret, Missouri and Melissa Baker and husband Edward of Adrian, Missouri; her mother, Opal Proctor of Whiting, Vermont; one brother, Dennis Ethridge and wife Jennifer of Whiting, Vermont; eight grandchildren, one great-grandson, a great-grandchild on the way; special niece Kimberly Cates and husband Timothy Sr.; and other nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father; stepfather Mike Proctor; one sister, Sherry Alarcon; and infant stillborn brother, Daryl.

Steven D. Thompson
Steven D. Thompson, 17 of Smithton, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 in Smithton. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, September 9, 2016 at the Mullinax Funeral Home – Drexel Chapel in Drexel, Missouri (660-679-0009). Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at the chapel. Interment will follow services in Sharon Cemetery, Drexel. Steven was born September 27, 1998 in Kansas City, Missouri. All throughout his brief life, basketball was his thing; or really, playing with any kind of ball. He also enjoyed swinging and playing on his tricycle and although it worried his family, he loved jumping on the trampoline.  He will always be remembered for his great smile.

Steven was preceded in death by grandparents Ronald Horn, and Theresa and Gary Mountjoy. He is survived by his mother, Tammy Walker of Amoret, Missouri; grandmother Cherie Horn of Drexel, Missouri; brother Edward Scott Walker of Collins, Missouri; sister Kimberly Walker of Clinton, Missouri; sister Heather Horn of Drexel; brother Christopher Walker of Knob Noster, Missouri; brother Brian Thompson of Gerster, Missouri; one nephew, two nieces, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Osceola man arrested in Bates County

On 9/6/16 around 3:00pm the Bates County Sheriff's Office arrested 25 year old Evan M. Ward of Osceola, Missouri.

Mr Ward was arrested on 4 warrants 1.) 3rd Degree Assault 2.) 2nd Degree Assault 3.) 2nd Degree Robbery 4.) 1st Degree Tampering with a motor vehicle.

Mr Ward was booked into the Bates County Jail and is set to be arraigned on these charges tomorrow 9/7/16 in Bates County Court.

St. Clair County warrant arrests

On Sept. 4, Talegha Compton, 29, Springfield, was arrested at the St. Clair County Jail on a Christian County warrant for failing to appear in court on misdemeanor traffic offense of no insurance. Bond is set at $250 cash only.
On Sept. 2, Ingrid Trowbridge, 52, Weaubleau, was arrested in St. Clair County on a Henry County warrant for failing to appear in court on an original misdemeanor charge of passing a bad check. Bond is set at $150 cash or $300 surety. The warrant was issued in May and the original charge stems from an incident in November 2015.

Arrest warrant issued for Osceola man

A St. Clair County warrant was recently issued for Leland Daggett, 60, Osceola, charging him with possession of a controlled substance. Bond is set at $60,000 cash only. The warrant was issued Aug. 10. 

The charge stems from an investigation on June 6 at Daggett’s residence on SE 401 Road, Osceola. During the investigation St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office deputies and members of the Mid Missouri Multi Jurisdiction Drug Task Force found a glass pipe with white powder and a large resealable plastic bag that also contained a white powder. 

The powder field tested positive for methamphetamine. A crystalline substance that also field tested positive for methamphetamine was found on a shelf in a locked shed on the premises.

Obituary - Ralph K. Lane

Ralph K. Lane, age 95 years, of Clinton, Missouri passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Jefferson Gardens, Clinton, Missouri. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Monday, September 12, 2016 at Good Hope Baptist Church, Tightwad, Missouri. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Vansant Road Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri.

Willie J. Carter, age 82 years, of Clinton, Missouri passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Clinton Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.

Among survivors are a sister, Charlene Bramell, and a niece, Anneita Johnson of Clinton, MO.
