Bold burglars busy near Drexel

Late in the afternoon recently, two individuals approached a homeowner in the Drexel/Archie area along A highway saying they had run out of gas and needed to use the restroom. The trusting individual later found that several items were stolen from his home.

Items stolen included a vintage woman's wedding ring. The descriptors are a middle aged white couple and a Hispanic teenage girl in a dark blue pickup.

We are getting reports that anti virus programs are flagging the Mid America Live web site as malicious... this is a complicated issue... first, the virus is not directly on our web site. It is a browser virus that is triggered by going to our web site. Our best recommendation is to clear your browser cache and temporary internet files. To confirm it is a browser virus, try another browser. The good news is that the browser programmers work very hard to get rid of the problem as soon as possible, making these types of issues very short lived in most cases. Thanks, Doug and Curtis

299lbs of Marijuana in route to Warsaw busted in Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY – An Interstate 40 traffic stop Monday morning led to the discovery of 299 pounds of marijuana.

A member of the Central Oklahoma Metro Interdiction Team — or COMIT — pulled over a Ford pickup with a camper shell about 1:30 a.m. at I-40 and Meridian Avenue.

Police say the license tag on the back of the truck was unreadable, because it had dark plastic covering it.

The two men in the pickup said they were traveling from Phoenix, Arizona, to Warsaw, Missouri.

However, the men gave different reasons for their trip. Rodney Bonner, 49, and Karl Ensign, 52, were in custody soon after.

A certified K-9 found 11 bales of marijuana in the back of the pickup, police said.

Oklahoma City police officer Travis Vernier said COMIT officers are on the lookout for more than illegal drugs.

“It’s human trafficking, it’s also guns, any kind of stolen property, so criminals use the interstate too. … They use the interstate to drive around and commit their deeds,” he said.

Bonner and Ensign remain the Oklahoma County jail on $25,000 bond each.

Alan spent his formative years in the Appleton City area, where he graduated from high school in 1963. After completing his education he served his country proudly in the United States Army. National Reserves During this time he met and married Lola Fern Snodgrass and from this union one daughter, Tina Michelle, was born.
