Clinton woman injured in Henry County crash

On 9/28/16 around 6:25pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County responded to a two vehicle accident on Missouri 7 Highway just North of  County Road NW 501 in rural Henry County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1996 Toyota Tacoma driven by 52 year old Bradford M. Williams of Warsaw, Missouri struck the 2000 Chevrolet S-10 driven by 18 year old Nathan B. Elliott in the rear.

A passenger in Mr. Elliott's vehicle 29 year old Angell Smith of Clinton, Missouri sustained minor injuries in this accident and she was transported by ambulance to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri for treatment.

Both sustained minor damages in this accident and both were driven from the scene.

Obituary - Scott Ensor

Scott Ensor, age 57 of Peculiar, MO formerly of Rich Hill, passed away September 26th 2016. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday October 1 at 11:30 a.m. at the Heuser Funeral Home in Rich Hill. Family will receive friends Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time. 

The family suggest Memorial Contributions to the Friends of Green Lawn Cemetery or the Rich Hill 4th of July Fund c/o Heuser Funeral Home. 

Scott is survived by his two sons, Corey and Cody Ensor, Kansas City MO. mother of his children, Tricia Robb, Belton MO four sisters, Cheri Ensor, Lebanon MO Wendy Bradley, Butler MO Marlene Pickering, Lebanon MO and Valerie Kithcart, Rich Hill MO

Obituary - Christopher Joseph Bridges

Christopher Joseph Bridges
Christopher Joseph Bridges, of Harrisonville, Missouri was born June 2, 1949 in St. Joseph, Missouri the son of Robert Leonard Sr. and Carolyn Elizabeth (Sterling) Bridges. He departed this life on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the ABC Health Center, Harrisonville at the age of 67 years, 3 months and 25 days.

Christopher was employed as an assembler at the Cassco Area Workshop in Harrisonville. He was a Special Olympic Champion in basketball, swimming, baseball, track and bowling. Christopher was a longtime fan of the KC Royals, KC Chiefs and the KU basketball team. He delighted in watching all their games on television. Christopher collected baseball cards and autographs and could always be seen with one of his numerous baseball hats on. He loved to drink his Diet Coke. 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Leonard Bridges Jr; a sister and brother-in-law, Lynne Marie Bridges-Booker and Robert Booker and a nephew, Robert Leonard Bridges III. 

Christopher is survived by his sister, Jennifer A. Bridges-Newman and husband, Jeb Stuart H. Newman Sr.; a brother, Patrick Arthur Bridges; nieces, Kristy Pope, Angie Partridge, Alison Straley, Blaire Booker-Craven, Cara Lynne Newman, Erin Roberts; nephews, Andrew Bridges, Nick Bridges, Jeb Stuart H. Newman Jr., Robert Caleb Newman and Aaron Dunning; other relatives and friends. 

Cremation. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. 

Final arrangements entrusted to Cass County Cremation Service, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Obituary - James Edward Otter

James Edward Otter
James Edward Otter, 62, El Dorado Springs, MO passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at a hospital in Overland Park, KS.  James was born March 4, 1954 in Norton, KS to Arthur Thomas Otter and Cecelia Katherine (Moos) Otter. On Sept 5, 1975 he was united in marriage to his former wife, Nancy (Davis) Otter at Calvary Baptist Church in Nevada, MO.

James was raised in the Norton, KS area. His family moved to Missouri as a young child and lived in Milford, Sheldon and Deerfield Mo areas. James worked for Lawrence and Sons in Deerfield, Midwest Coal Mine, Bronaugh, MO., retired from Wadsworth
Construction Co., Phoenix, AZ.

James loved to hunt and fish, play cards and enjoyed taking pictures of the places he visited while working for Wadsworth.

James is survived by one son, Corey Edward Otter and his wife Stephanie, Deerfield;


4 Grandchildren, Haley, CJ, Braxton and Brady Otter all of the Deerfield area; his mother, Cecelia; 3 sisters, Anne, Delores, Rose; 2 brothers, Mark, Quentin; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by father, Arthur, 3 brothers, Richard, Jerry and Leon and 1 son Christopher Earl Otter.

Arrangements were under direction of Ferry Funeral Home, the family received friends between one and two o'clock Friday afternoon, September 23, at the funeral home and burial followed in Nevada's Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Transformer fire leaves most of Eldorado Springs without power

A spectacular fire erupted at a substation in Eldorado Springs today that resulted in a loss of power for most of the city. It is being reported that the heavy smoke, arcing and buzzing continued for quite some time before crews got the power turned off.

It is unknown how long before repairs are made. Consequently, the Butler  jr. high football game scheduled in Eldorado Springs has been postponed.

Absentee voting available through Nov 7th

Bates County Clerk Marlene Wainscott has announced that absentee voting may be done now through November 7th at the clerk's office in the Bates County courthouse.

The Bates County clerks office will be open weekdays, plus two Saturdays (Oct 29th and Nov 5th) for your convenience.

Obituary - Todd Christopher Diemer

Todd Christopher Diemer, 47, of Kansas City, KS. passed away Sept. 22, 2016 at KU Medical Center.

Memorial Services will be Sat. Oct 1, 2016 at 1 PM at Highland Park Funeral Home, 4101 State Ave. Kansas City, KS. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Todd’s name at the funeral home.

Todd was born Sept. 2, 1969 in Kansas City, KS and was a lifelong area resident. He was a Cabinet Maker and Volunteer Fire Fighter in Drexel, Mo. He preceded in death by Grandfathers: Billy Nedrow and George H. Diemer. Survivors include: Father; Scott (Vicki) Diemer, Mother: Dorita Diemer, Son: Alex Diemer, Daughter: Brianna Greene, Sister: Sabrina Diemer, Grandmothers: Maude Nedrow and Jodie Diemer.
