Due to the heavy rains yesterday and last night there will be no parking at the fair grounds this weekend at the Arts and Crafts Festival. 

If you plan on attending the Arts and Crafts Festival please park and ride the bus from one of the locations around town.

Obituary - Dorothy Read

Dorothy Read
Funeral services for Dorothy Read will be 7 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2016 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri with Rev. Bill Read officiating. 

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, October 10 at Schowengerdt Chapel. Cremation following services. 

Inurnment at a later date, Scott Cemetery, Amsterdam, Missouri. Contributions to Amsterdam Baptist Church or Heartland Hospice.

Dorothy Alice Read, age 95 of Amsterdam, Missouri died Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler. She was born August 24, 1921 to Lawrence and Lillie Erickson Cowley in Amsterdam.

Dorothy is survived by four sons, Marvin Read and wife Joyce of Stilwell, Kansas, Bill Read and wife Becky of Harrisonville, Missouri, David Read and wife Debbie of Stilwell, Kansas and Ron Read of Amsterdam, Missouri; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pink Out raises over $4,600 for Team Educate

A huge thank you goes to all that participated in the Pink Out effort last night in Adrian... over $4,600.00 was raised in the name of Team Educate earmarked for the American Cancer Society. As an added bonus, Adrian girls varsity volleyball beat Midway in both games.

One injured in Vernon County crash

On 10/6/16 around 3:52pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County along with Vernon County Sheriffs Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident 2 miles East of of Nevada on Missouri 54 Highway.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when 2012 Toyota Camry driven by 23 year old Jennifer L. Stewart of Lowry City, Missouri struck the rear of the 2000 Dodge Dakota driven by 63 year old Bobby M. Hamilton of Eldorado Springs, Missouri.

Mr. Hamilton sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported to Cedar County Memorial Hospital in Eldorado Springs, Missouri.

The Toyota was totaled and towed from the scene by C&H Towing.

Creighton woman arrested in Henry County

On 10/6/16 around 11:30pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County arrested 63 year old Faye L. Taylor of Creighton, Missouri.

She was arrested for 1.) Felony Driving While Intoxicated.

Faye L. Taylor was booked into the Henry County Jail in Clinton, Missouri and later released.
