Perfect October day for Adrian Fall Festival

FRONT AND CENTER musical entertainment by recording artist Jeremy Cato and his 6
member entourage. In speaking to Cato during intermission, he expressed his sincere
gratitude to the city of Adrian, and specifically to the Adrian Fire Department as his
performance (note fire boots on stage) was dedicated to raising money for AFD. Kato
publicly thanked Chief Gary Dizney and the crew for their ongoing mission of helping
keep our community safe.  Cato provided 2 hours of country, oldies and some gospel
favorites- his second CD will be out soon, which will include all original material. You

Obituary - Jerry M. Boone

Jerry M. Boone, 72, La Cygne, Kansas passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Louisburg Health Care and Rehab. He was born on November 3, 1943 at Paola, Kansas the son of Irvin and Esther Croghan Boone. He married Dixie Ross on July 10, 1965 at Kansas City, Kansas. Jerry worked as a fiber optic installer, mechanic and bus driver. 

He and wife Dixie opened the Family Cafe in November of 1991. The couple also enjoyed and were very good dancers. Jerry loved his family. He was involved as a coach and attended all their activities. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and telling a good story. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Luke Allan Boone, a brother, Ronald Boone, three sisters, Wanda Hood, Sally Malone, and Joyce Hensley. Jerry is survived by his wife, Dixie, three sons: Patrick Boone and Judy, Jerry Paul Boone and Lisa, and Richard Boone and Laurie, four daughters: Tammy Weitman and Danny, Juley Isenhower and J.J., Tiffany VanNorman and Nathan, and Lisa Elmore and David, two brothers, Kenneth and Danny Boone, one sister, Cathy Miller, twenty-six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Services will be 10:30 am Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the La Cygne Christian Church. Inurnment at Oak Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Contributions are suggested to Oak Lawn Cemetery. Dollar General Store coming to Urich

The city of Urich would like to announce that construction will be beginning very soon on a Dollar General Store. 

The new store will be located at 1356 W. Graham Road, Urich, Mo.

A completion date wasn't available to us at this but we will update when we know more.

Harrisonville man injured in Cass County Crash

On 10/15/16 around 3:39pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Peculiar Police Department and Peculiar Fire Department responded to a once vehicle accident in the Southbound Lanes of I-49 at mile marker 168.4 in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1994 Ford Ranger driven by 78 year old Keith G. Templ of Harrisonville, Missouri traveled off the left side of the roadway where he struck cable barriers which caused the vehicle to overturn.

Mr. Templ sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported by private vehicle to Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by J's Southland Tow.

Cass County Trooper promoted to Corporal and Zone 11 Supervisor

Captain Scott Shipers, commanding officer of Troop A, Lee's Summit, announces effective, October 1, 2016, Trooper James “Jim” E. Thuss was promoted to the rank of corporal and designated the assistant zone supervisor of Zone 11, which serves Cass County. Thuss was appointed to the Missouri State Highway Patrol on July 1, 1996, as part of the 72nd Recruit Class. 

After graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Jackson County, Zone 7. 

He was promoted to Corporal in April 2006 and assigned to Zone 11. He transferred to the gaming division before taking a voluntary reduction in rank and returning to Zone 11 in January 2014. Corporal Thuss is also a member of the Troop A S.W.A.T. team. 

Mr. Thuss was born in Great Falls Montana. He graduated from Lutheran High South, in Affton, Missouri, in 1983. Before joining the Patrol, he attended College of the Ozarks, in Point Lookout, Missouri. 

Corporal Thuss is married to Melody (Prine), who is originally from Nemo, Texas, and they have two daughters, Emily, 18, and Audrey, 15.

Harrisonville Police seeking public's help

The Investigations Unit of the Harrisonville Police Department is attempting to identify the three persons in the security camera photos posted below. 

These parties are sought in connection to the use of stolen credit card in the cities of Harrisonville, Peculiar, Grandview and Independence. 

These crimes occurred in late August. The vehicle that is associated with these suspects is a light green to grey colored 1999 Toyota Corolla.
