Obituary - Leila Craig

Leila Craig, 73, of Pleasant Hill, died Sunday, October 30, 2016, at her home, surrounded with love and family.

Arrangements are pending under the direction of Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

Butler Masonic Lodge annual turkey dinner

The Butler Masonic Lodge will be hosting their annual Turkey Dinner on November 6th. 

The dinner will start at 11:00 am and will be held at the Masonic Lodge Hall located at 1203 N. Orange Street. 

Price for the dinner is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Max Motors hosting Veterans Day Chili Cook Off

Max Motors in Butler will be hosting a Veterans Day Chili Cook-off on Friday Nov. 11th Veterans Day starting at 10:45 am !!!

Hume Community News 10/31/16

Paul and Marie Pettey Hartfield II are proud to announce the birth of their first child, a son named Paul Louis Haretfield III “Paulie”. Paulie was born at Queens Medical Center in Honolulu, HI on October 24, 2016 at 5:02 HST. He weighed 6lbs. 14 oz and was 19 ½ inches long. Maternal grandparent are Jon Pettye and the late Cathy Pettey. Paternal grandprarents are Paul Hartfield Sr. and Robyn Hartfield,

The community of Hume wishes to extend their sympathy to Mary Spencer and family on the loss of her sister Gerdi Hedwig Beaman who passed away on October 15. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with them all.

Cathy Thurow of Illinois is here a few day visiting with her mother, Jean Zinn.

The 050 Club will meet on Monday November 7 for a carry in dinner at the Hume Community Center. This is a great time to get together for lots of good ole fashion visiting.

Don’t forget the Lord’s Acre Day BBQ and Auction this Saturday, November 5. The meal starts at 11:00 a.m. and the Auction at 1:00 p.m. at the Hume United Methodist Church.

There will be a Veteran’s Day Program on November 11 honoring our Veteran’s. The Veteran’s are invited to enjoy lunch at Noon at the Hume School with the Program to follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Larry L. Berry Gym at the Hume School.

The Hume Alliance Ministry will host a Deer Hunter’s Breakfast on Saturday, November 12 at the Hume Legion Hall. The proceeds will go towards the Food Pantry in Hume. We will be serving from 4:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Several Injured in Henry County head on crash

On 10/31/16 around 6:50pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County along with Henry County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a two vehicle head on crash at Missouri 52 Highway just East of SW 1075 Road in rural Henry County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2000 Chevrolet driven by 32 year old Jeffery S. Stephens of Clinton, Missouri crossed the center line of traffic and struck the 2000 Pontiac driven by 58 year old Nancy A. Jurgensmeyer of Montrose, Missouri head on. Mr. Stephens vehicle then traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned ejecting all three occupants.

Nancy A. Jurgensmeyer as well as a passenger in her vehicle 59 year old Eugene  F. Jurgensmeyer both sustained moderate injuries in this accident and both were transported to Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City for treatment.

Jeffery S. Stephens sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was transported to Life Flight Eagle to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

Two passengers in Mr. Stephens vehicle Brenden Stephens and Brooklyn Stephens ( Ages unknown on both children at the time of the report) both sustained moderate injuries and both were transported to Children's Mercy Hospital for treatment.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene by Golden Valley Tow Service.
