Obituary - Benjamin Delgado, Jr.

Benjamin Delgado, Jr,
Benjamin Delgado, Jr, 61, departed this life on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at his home in Nevada following a lengthy illness. Benjamin was born in Chicago, IL on May 23, 1955 to Benjamin and Rosalee (Stout) Delgado.

Benjamin was raised in Chicago and attended school there. Following high school he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Vietnam. He later moved to Branson, MO and started a family. While in Branson, Benjamin owned and operated a motel and the Old Tyme Photos store. In 2003 he came to Nevada to be near his family. He enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling, UFC fighting, and going to the casinos. But he especially loved the time he spent with his family.

Survivors include three children, Neena Woodcook (Roger), Nevada, Ben Delgado, III, (Amanda) Nevada, Landon Delgado, Nevada; grandchildren, Keirstan Delgado, Heavenly Woodcook; siblings, Carmen Becker, TX, Michelle Daniels, Springfield, MO, Joe Delgado, Branson; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; and of special mention, Kimberly Delgado. He was preceded in death by his parents and one step-brother, Jim Stout.



Friends may gather at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada for a time of remembering. Graveside services will follow at 12:30 in the Fort Scott National Cemetery, Fort Scott, KS with Bro. Landon Delgado officiating.

Joseph Christopher Allen, 53, Claremore, OK passed away on December 12, 2016 at St. John’s Rehab in Tulsa, OK.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home.



Large grass fire near Archie

 Multiple agencies are currently working to extinguish a very large grass fire north of Archie and smoke may be interfering with traffic on I-49 in both directions.

Obituary - Wayne Matthew Thomason

Wayne Matthew Thomason, 48, Garden City, Missouri, died Monday, December 12, 2016 at Kindred Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. 

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday, December 16, 2016 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri. 

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00pm Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. 

Burial will be in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri. Contributions to the M.S. Society. The obituary will be updated when it becomes available.

Obituary - Kitty L. Brewer

Kitty L. Brewer, 83, Harrisonville, Missouri died Monday, December 12, 2016 at her home in Harrisonville. Graveside services will be held 11:00am Friday, December 16, 2016 at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. ]

The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association or Serenity Hospice. A complete obituary will be added when it becomes available.



Traffic Hazard in Harrisonville

The Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County is responded to a traffic hazard on Missouri 2 Highway just West of the Cass County Jail.

The report is a semi truck that attempted to turn around in the roadway and become stuck.

The road is completely blocked at this time, please use caution when traveling in this area and expect delays with this incident.

Update: Amoret woman seriously injured after fiery accident on I-49 at Archie

On 12/13/16 around 7:53 am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates and Cass County along with Archie Police Department ans several fire units responded to a two vehicle accident in the Southbound Lanes of I-49 at Mile Marker 147.6 ( Archie).

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2011 Chevrolet Impala driven by 21 year old Michaela K. Brawley of Amoret, Missouri overtook and struck the rear of the 2013 Freightliner driven by 47 year old Dewayne C. Morris of Palmdale California.

Michaela K. Brawley sustained serious injuries in this accident and she was transported by ambulance to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment. The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Johnson's Tow.

City of Butler annual election to be held April 4th

The annual City Election of the City of Butler, Missouri, will be held April 4, 2017. The offices to be filled are: One Councilman for Ward 1 (2 yrs.), one Councilman for Ward 2 (2 yrs.), one Councilman for Ward 2 (1yr), one Councilman for Ward 3 (2 yrs.), and one Councilman for Ward 4 (2yrs.)

Candidates must be citizens of the United States and voters under the Constitution of this State and Ordinances of the City.

Candidates for Councilman must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age prior to taking office, an inhabitant of the City for one year next preceding his election, and a resident of the Ward from which he is elected six months next preceding his election.

Qualified residents of the City of Butler are invited to file at the office of the City Clerk, City Hall, 22 W. Ohio, between 8:00 a.m. December 13, 2016, and 5:00 p.m. January 17, 2017.
