Power outage: Too close for comfort...
![]() |
| It got rather cold in this Amsterdam residence before power was restored last night |
Late in the afternoon power went off affecting over 400 residences in the Merwin, Amsterdam and Amoret area, along with a few Facebook reports that part of Adrian was affected as well.
As fate would have it, we had sub freezing temperatures to boot, leaving families huddled together or scrambling to a neighbor with power, all while pipes began to freeze.
While it's not clear exactly what the chain of events were to cause the outage, one issue was a fallen power line just south of Merwin which also caused a small grass fire as well.
It was reported this morning that some in the Amoret area were still without power as late as 4 am today due to a separate incident.
