Threats made against the Henry County Prosecutor

Richard McNabb
On the evening of January 3rd, at approximately 6:53 P.M., Clinton Police Officers were made aware of a threat that had been made against Henry County Prosecutor Richard Shields.

The threat was apparently made by Richard McNabb, 34 years old of Clinton. McNabb has pending court cases for a charge of murder in the second degree and neglect of a child resulting in a death, along with unrelated drug charges. According to witnesses, McNabb threatened to kill Prosecutor Shields by shooting him and then he intended to kill himself.

Investigation by Clinton Police revealed that McNabb had apparently taken a .308 caliber rifle from a relative and placed it in a location in close proximity to Prosecutor Shields residence. The rifle was recovered from that location by Clinton Police. Officers attempted to contact McNabb at his residence in the 300 block of North Mable but he was uncooperative and fled inside of the residence refusing to come out.

Before a perimeter could be established, McNabb escaped out of a bedroom window and fled on foot. With the assistance of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Deputies of the Henry County Sheriff’s Department, Clinton Police took McNabb into custody at a residence in the 200 block of Kristine.

Mr. McNabb was charged with 24 hour investigation of attempting to commit murder in the first degree. He was transported to the Henry County Detention Center where he was incarcerated with no bond.

Snow Tonight... Slippery Commute Thursday

Plan on some extra time to make it to your destination tomorrow morning because overnight snow is going to slow things down.

This will be a very light, fluffy snow (the kind you can clear with a leaf blower) and should be tapering off by sunrise, but up to 3 inches of accumulation could still cause some slippery roads out there.

Areas in orange have the highest likelihood of travel problems and a winter weather advisory is in effect for these locations for tonight and tomorrow morning.
