Amoret man arrested for Endangering the welfare of a child

On 1/4/17 around 12:30pm the Bates County Sheriffs Office arrested 44 year old Ernest Schmidt of Amoret, Missouri.

Mr. Schmidt was arrested for 1.) 1st Degree Endangering the welfare of a child creating a substantial risk.

He was booked into the Bates County Jail and placed on a $5000 Cash/Surety bond.

Obituary - Ronald Wayne Plummer

Ronald Wayne Plummer
Ronald Wayne Plummer, age 65, of Warsaw, MO, died on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach, MO.
Ronald was born January 4, 1951 to Wayne Ulysses Plummer and Frieda Mae ‘Lewis’ Plummer of St. Joseph, MO.  After school, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam.  After his discharge from the Marines, Ronald went to work as a truck driver, driving for Burger King, Rent A Center and as an owner/operator.  He married Diane ‘Dyer’ in Miami, OK on April 22, 1982.  They made their home in Warsaw, MO.
Survivors include his wife, Diane of the home; three children, Stacey Hooton (Daniel) of Warsaw, Erika Bauer (Dewayne) of Warsaw and Ashley Degraffenreid (David) of Warsaw; seven grandchildren, Mackenzie, Lucas, Autumn, Ariel, Jordyn, Madison and Evan; a brother, Gary Plummer; several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Preceding Ronald in death were his parents; a brother, Butch; and his grandmother, Lula.
The family will receive visitors at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Consalus Funeral Home.  A service will follow at 3:00 PM, ending with a military honor guard.  After the service, Ronald will be cremated for an inurnment at a later date.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Ronald W. Plummer Memorial Fund and left in care of Consalus Funeral Home, 209 S. 2nd St., Clinton, MO 64735.

Warming trend to begin tomorrow

The cold temperatures continue today and tonight, but not as cold as this morning. 

A warming trend will begin tomorrow, and by Sunday, highs for most in the area will be above freezing.

Mary Leona Akins 91 of Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Lee's Summit Medical Center, Lee's Summit, Missouri surrounded by love and family.

Final arrangements entrusted to Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

A complete obituary and service time will be posted when that information becomes available.

The Bates County Sheriff's Office broadcast a Nixle message yesterday as there were concerns that two Rich Hill teenagers may be missing. After a brief investigation, it was determined the two were in no danger and were located safely.

Two teens escape serious injuries in Cass County crash

On 1/05/17 the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County responded to a one vehicle accident on Shimel Road and Missouri 58 Highway in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2008 Toyota driven by 17 year old Logan M. Edwards of Kingsville, Missouri slid through a intersection due to icy road conditions, the vehicle slid into a ditch and struck a KCP&L phone box before coming to rest.

A passenger in the vehicle 19 year old Amanda Hansen of Kingsville, Missouri sustained minor injuries in this accident and she wqas transported by private vehicle to Lees Summit Medical Center for treatment.

The vehicle received moderate damages and was towed from the scene by Stever's Tow of Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
