Two arrested after traffic stop in Bates County

Samantha Markus
On January 2, 2017 a Sergeant from the Bates County Sheriff’s Office conducted a vehicle stop near east 52 and N highway on a Hyundai car for multiple lane violations.

Dispatch advised the Sergeant that the passenger, Samantha Markus (DOB 8/5/90) had a warrant from the City of Lamar for Failure to Appear on a traffic violation. The warrant was extraditable. Markus was placed under arrest.

The driver was asked to exit the vehicle. The Sergeant then patted down the subject for his own safety. The driver, Michel Lindsay (DOB 7/25/66) had a key holder in his pocket that had a white crystal substance inside of it.

Warmer the next three days

A warmer and somewhat active work week is expected. Tuesday morning, there is a chance for patchy drizzle for everyone. Wednesday evening, there is a chance of light rain, mainly along/east of HWY 65 with a wintry mix possible late Wednesday in far northern MO. Right now, little accumulation is expected both Tuesday and Wednesday.

The main focus this week though is the potential for a winter storm this weekend, which is currently scheduled to move into the area Friday. At this time, precipitation will start out as snow and transition to a wintry mix by Friday night. The wintry mix is expected to continue through the weekend. It is still early, so keep in the mind the forecast will likely change some over the next few days, so stay tuned!
