Scam Alert In the area

Tax season is upon us and that means the IRS scams are back. If someone calls you and states they are from the IRS, do not give them any personal information. The IRS already has your personal information and they will not call you.

If they request that you pay what you owe with gift cards, this is a scam. The IRS does not accept gift cards. They may also tell you that you will have an arrest warrant if you do not pay them. This again is a scam. The El Dorado Springs Police Department has already taken reports from people being scammed.

Do not be a victim of a scam. If someone calls asking for gift card information for payment for taxes, don’t do it! Then, contact your local police department and advised them of the incident.
