Tickets can be purchased for $6 for adults and $3 for children from any rotary member. All proceeds go towards projects involving students of the Butler School system.

Upon retirement, she volunteered as a "Foster" Grandparent in the Prairie View District. She had a passion for children and their education. Mary Jane was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in La Cygne. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Pauline Noel. She is survived by her son, Michael Abel, brother, Francis "Frankie" Noel III, and two sisters, Patricia Noel and Lois Green, four grandchildren: Benjamin, Michael, Jacob and Ori, and four great grandchildren: Aria, Liam, Tucker and Sydney and two special care givers, Vickie Hall and Angie Coe.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in La Cygne. Burial will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery, La Cygne. The rosary will be prayed at 5 pm Tuesday with visitation following until 7 pm at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Polio Foundation. One arrested after search warrant served in Nevada

During the execution of the search warrant, officers located multiple items of suspected drug paraphernalia inside the home, including syringes loaded with what is believed to be a controlled substance. Police located suspected methamphetamine and other controlled substances throughout the home as well as three firearms.
Nevada Police were also able to recover a large amount of suspected stolen property. Nevada Police Detectives are currently conducting follow ups in an attempt to identify victims and return the stolen property. The police department estimates there may be as many as fifty victims involved once the investigation is completed.
It’s believed that several items recovered were stolen from other jurisdictions and could help solve dozens of crimes for local law enforcement agencies in our area. A large portion of the suspected stolen property consist of identification cards, social security information, checks, titles, mail, birth certificates, debit cards, and other personal information.
Nevada Police took into custody a male subject identified as; 31 year old, Nevada resident, Douglas Derry. The Vernon County Associate Court issued the following charges on Derry the following day;
1.) Possession of a Controlled Substance D Felony 2.) Keeping or Maintaining a Public Nuisance E Felony 3.)Unlawful Possession of a Firearm D Felony Mr. Derry has a bond set at $25,000 cash only.
The investigation continues, and police are developing more suspects in the case. Once the investigation is completed Nevada Police are expecting to submit additional warrant applications to the Vernon County Prosecutors Office for the filing of formal charges.

Obituary - Harvey Francis “Bud” Monroe, Jr.

Bud attended and graduated from the Mark Twain School in Kansas City at an early age. At the age of 17 he joined the Navy, proudly serving as a Fireman on the USS Antietam, USS Yog, and the USS Comstock. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, WW II Victory Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Medal.
On July 22, 2000, he was united in marriage to Janice (Coates) Norman in Belton.
Bud was employed as a Union Truck Driver for ABF for 40 years retiring in 1991. He enjoyed fishing and tinkering around on his small farm near Pleasant Hill. He was a member of the Teamster Union Local #41 and the Pleasant Hill Big Creek Baptist Church.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and 7 half brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife Janice of Raymore; three children; Patricia A. Icenhouer of Gladstone; Harvey Monroe, III of Blue Spring’s, and Thomas Monroe of Smithville; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. He is also survived by 2 stepchildren, Michael Norman of Belton and Robert (and Priscilla) Norman of Peculiar; 9 step grandchildren; 9 step great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Pastor Todd MacLean will officiate. Graveside military services and interment will follow in the Staley Mound Cemetery with full military honors by the U.S. Navy and the V.F.W. Post #3118 Honor Guard. Casket bearers are Harvey Monroe III, Jamie Monroe, Thomas Monroe, Mike Norman, Sam Parisa, and Randy Webb.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Big Creek Baptist Church Building fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
