NOTE:
These
facilities have been generous enough to offer their use as shelters in
the event of severe weather. They have provided us with a list of
personnel to call to get the shelters open. The City of Butler does not
guarantee that these facilities will be open dependant on the time we
have to make contact with the personnel and how much advance warning we
have. We would urge you to make a plan prior to the time that a
warning may occur, such as a neighbor or relative with a basement or
storm shelter, or in your own home if time does not allow you to seek
other shelter.
The City of Butler further does not make any
claims as to the structural integrity of any of these facilities in
their ability to withstand a tornado or life threatening wind event.

| Mary Scheer |
On Feb. 21, Mary Scheer, 47, Appleton City, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with class E felony driving while revoked-third or subsequent offense. Bond is set at $7,500 cash or surety.
The charge stems from a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office investigation the previous day when a traffic stop was initiated on a 1994 Ford F150 pickup truck on North Maple Street, Appleton City. Scheer was identified as the driver.
During the investigation it was determined Scheer’s driving privileges were revoked and there were previous convictions for driving while revoked. Scheer was taken into custody and transported to the St. Clair County Jail pending the formal charge.
For the past several months there has been a lot of speculation about what would reopen in the former Gray's Cafe location on the strip in Butler and today, Mid America Live received information directly from the owners:

And like the sign says breakfast, burgers, salads and more. And everything is made from scratch.

| Bryan Ferrel |
On Feb. 23, Bryan Ferrel, 36, Osceola, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with class D felony stealing a motor vehicle. Bond is set at $15,000.
The charge stems from a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office investigation on Feb. 21, when a St. Clair County deputy took a report in reference to a stolen vehicle at the Appleton City Feed Service on West Fourth Street, Appleton City.
The store’s co-owner James Smith reported a white 2003 Ford F350 single cab with a black flatbed was stolen from the feed store. Smith estimated the value of the truck at $10,000. Video footage was obtained showing a suspect getting into the truck and taking off at approximately 12:09 p.m.
In the morning hours on Feb. 22, Bates County Sheriff’s Office recovered the truck. It was towed to a secure location for processing. Evidence located by Bates County Sheriff’s Office at the scene assisted in identifying Ferrel who was later taken into custody in St. Clair County. Ferrel also had an arrest warrant from Bates County charging him with class A misdemeanor resisting arrest. Bond on that charge is set at $500 cash or surety.
