Willard W.W. Bond

Willard W.W. Bond, 82, Nevada, MO passed from this life on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada following a brief illness. Willard was born July 9, 1934 in Nevada, MO to Lucian D. and Beulah (Barbee) Bond. He was united in marriage to Isabel Clemons on November 22, 1959 in Nevada, MO and she survives of the home.

Willard was raised in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School. Willard served in the United States Army for two years, from1957 until 1959, while stationed in Germany, and Beirut, Lebanon. Following his services years he came back to Nevada and raised his family. Willard worked at Nevada State Hospital for 27 years until his retirement. He also raised cattle all his life. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, coon hunting, and coyote hunting. Willard was a member of the Nevada Elks #564, Richards Masonic #495, and was a lifelong member of the VFW in Nevada.

In addition to his wife, Isabel, survivors include five sons, Tim Bond and his wife Stacy, Nevada, Kevin Bond and his wife Susan, Moundville, Jamo Bond and his wife Lisa, Nevada, Jeff Bond and his wife Myra, Nevada, Jason Bond and his wife Margaret, Nevada; grandchildren, Kyle Bond, Lucian Bond, Collin Bond, Darcy Bond, Brady Bond, Hannah Bond, Adrian Bond, and Hallie Bond; one great-grandson, Connor Dean Bond; three sisters, Thelma Alumbaugh, Scottsdale, AZ, Fern Welch, Nevada, Marion Raines, Nevada; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Dale Bond; one sister, Wilma Reed; three brothers, Elton “Bub” Bond, Elmon Bond, and Junior Bond.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2017 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Rev. Mark Mitchell officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Antioch Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.

Contributions may be made in his memory to the Vernon County Youth Fair in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.

Butler High School Theater Department Presents Game of Tiaras

The Butler High School Theater Department presents "Game of Tiaras" on Friday March 10 and Saturday March 11 in the Butler High School Auditorium. 

Showtime is 7PM for both nights. Tickets will be sold at the door--$5 for adults, $3 for students.

A pep bus will be available every night they play to all community members and students. Bus is open to any grade level with 7th grade & up not needing a parent to attend with them. Cost is $15 for community members and $5 for students. There is also an admission charge of $9. Community members may call the school to be put on the list and students can sign up in the HS office.  Bus will leave at 2:45 pm on Thursday, March 9 for Game 1.

Meet the Players this Sunday in Butler

Public Service Announcement from the Butler Police Department

The Butler Police Department will be participating in the DEA Drug Takeback campaign. The Butler Police along with the Bates County Health Department will be participating in the drug turn in program sponsored by the DEA. 

The turn in location will be the Bates Co Health Dept. located at 501 N Orange Butler MO. On April 29 2017 between the hours of 10 am to 2 pm. 

We will be accepting any prescription and non-prescription medication which will be turned over to the DEA for destruction. We will not accept syringes or inhalers.

The Butler Police also have a medication drop box located in the lobby of the Butler Police Station that meds can be dropped off at anytime.
