One arrested after police chase in Western Bates County
| William Scott Kerr |
The Deputy initiated his lights and sirens. The F150 turned south on County Road 11001 at a high rate of speed. After fleeing on several county roads the vehicle headed south into Amoret. The suspect drove down several streets in Amoret before it headed back towards Amsterdam. The suspect drove into Kansas and continued to fail to yield to the Deputy.
The vehicle came back into Missouri and headed towards Merwin. The MSHP deployed spike strips on State Route Y. The vehicle ran over the spike strips and deflated all four tires but continued south on Y Highway a short distance before it slid off the road and came to a stop.
The Driver of the vehicle, William Scott Kerr (DOB 3/9/1967), exited the F150 and started yelling at the Deputies. A K9 was deployed to assist in the take down of Kerr. He attempted to fight the K9 and continued to ignore the verbal commands of the Deputies. Kerr finally complied and placed his hands behind his back.
Due to the nature of the K9 assist Kerr was transported to the Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment for his injuries from the K9. After being treated, Kerr was taken to the Bates County Jail and turned over to the custody of the Jail Staff.
Kerr had a Bates County warrant for Assault in the 1st Degree from a previous case. His bond was set at $25000.00 cash only. Kerr will be facing additional charges for the pursuit.
